About Solaris Management Consultants Inc.

Solaris Management Consultants Inc. (Solaris) delivers engineering and project management services for the energy industry across North America and the globe. Our work covers traditional and transitional energy solutions, including Natural Gas, LNG, Hydrogen, and Low-carbon assets. We deliver predictable outcomes through disciplined front-end planning, construction-led designs, and data-driven controls. With more than 31 years of experience and a portfolio of 5,000+ projects, our in-house multidisciplinary teams help clients move from concept to commissioning with confidence.

Position Overview

As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and ensuring the successful delivery of projects in natural gas, LNG, renewables, hydrogen, and related technologies. You will liaise with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, manage project schedules and budgets, support design development and equipment selection, and ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and engineering standards

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment and understands how this role fuels business performance, innovation, and broader company vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the Project Manager and multidisciplinary design teams for projects in natural gas, LNG, renewables, hydrogen, and related technologies
  • Ensure designs comply with client specifications, applicable provincial and federal regulations, codes, and accepted engineering standards
  • Coordinate project tasks, schedules, and deliverables while setting clear objectives for the design team to meet productivity, quality, and budget targets
  • Support project planning by preparing estimates and budgets, developing and reviewing P&IDs, and assisting with equipment sizing and selection, and reviewing the work of support staff to ensure technical accuracy and adequacy
  • Monitor procurement activities to ensure materials and equipment meet specifications and are delivered on schedule
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to interpret technical requirements, resolve design issues, and support project execution
  • Participate in design and safety reviews (e.g., HAZOP/PHA), review technical work for accuracy, maintain HSE considerations, and support field inspections when required
  • Recommend improvements in design standards to reduce costs, improve work quality, and facilitate maintenance
  • May be required to travel to project sites to conduct final facility inspections and may be responsible for reviewing, signing, and stamping engineering drawings where applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or Applied Science; P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration (EGBC preferred)
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience; experience in the Natural Gas, Renewables, or LNG sectors is considered an asset
  • Experience in an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) environment
  • Strong preference for experience with centrifugal compression, gas turbines, and LNG systems
  • Applicants without a degree or P.Eng. may be considered with 8+ years of relevant experience in packaged equipment fabrication management, field construction/turnaround management, or facility operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate conditions and make sound technical decisions
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, with the ability to supervise and coordinate small multidisciplinary teams
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a solid understanding and application of engineering codes and standards
  • Self-driven, curious, and committed to continuous improvement and professional growth

Demeanour Required:

  • Strategic: Understands the broader business landscape and how people strategy drives results
  • Proactive: Anticipates needs and challenges, providing timely, pragmatic solutions
  • Collaborative: Builds trust with executives, technical professionals, and HR peers alike
  • Resilient: Remains composed under pressure and navigates complex dynamics with confidence
