Job description

Venor is proud to partner with McCarthy’s Roofing Limited, the largest roofing company in Atlantic Canada, on their search for a Project Manager. Recently under new ownership, McCarthy’s has been enjoying tremendous growth and success while earning the trust of new clients, suppliers, and valued work crews. This growth has prompted the need for a dynamic leader with a strong background in project management, construction operations, and P&L oversight.

As Project Manager, you will oversee key construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will split your time between on-site coordination and office management, working closely with estimating, project teams, contractors, and clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the construction industry, strong leadership skills, and excellent organizational and communication abilities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Oversee and manage construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor construction progress, proactively identifying and resolving issues to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
  • Manage project documentation, including client/consultant communications, change orders, and monthly billing.
  • Onboard new projects from estimating, creating necessary documentation, and ensuring smooth handoffs.
  • Oversee production in the field, reviewing drawings, ensuring materials are available, and addressing on-site challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Mentor and support project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5+ years in construction project management, with experience in both field and office coordination.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, resource management, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and adapt to challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Transparent communication style and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What’s in It for You

McCarthy’s offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • Variable pay/bonus opportunities
  • Company vehicle
  • Profit-sharing and other potential upside
  • A supportive and inclusive workplace culture

At Venor and McCarthy’s Roofing, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, what you believe in, or who you love, we welcome your application. We all come from different backgrounds and different walks of life, bringing in unique perspectives and experiences. We encourage applications from 2SLGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC), women, newcomers to Canada, and people with disabilities.
