2 months Contract Dispatcher - High-Volume Logistics (Edmonton, AB)

We are seeking a highly organized, solutions-focused, and experienced Dispatcher to join our client, a leader in logistics and transportation, at their vital Edmonton hub.
This temporary contract role is crucial for monitoring and supporting their drivers, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of high-volume trucking services.

Job Overview
Role Title Dispatcher
Location Northwest Edmonton
Shift Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Contract Length 2 Months
Hourly Salary Bracket $25 - $30 per hour (Based on specific, relevant experience)

The facility is located in Northwest Edmonton's primary industrial zone, situated strategically near the intersection of St. Albert Trail NW and Yellowhead Trail NW (Highway 16).

Responsibilities
As a Dispatcher, you will be responsible for supporting and monitoring all on-road activities completed by drivers during your shift:

Driver & Trip Management: Assess and support all driver inquiries. Provide necessary trip information and tools, including trip sheets, access codes for locations, trip numbers, and tractor keys.

Monitoring & Tracking: Actively track and monitor all driver activity and progress utilizing specialized logistics software (Back Office and XRS).

Operational Updates: Ensure Trip Sheets are accurately completed and A1 live updates are processed, progressing trips as required. Support senior planner and account coordinator requests by completing all daily add-ons.

Customer Communication (CSR Duties): Handle evening Customer Service Representative (CSR) duties, responding to all customer requests in a timely and professional manner.

Logistics Coordination: Maintain effective, streamlined communication with drivers, customers, and other departments to quickly respond to challenges like traffic or weather disruptions and ensure on-time deliveries.

Qualifications
MUST HAVE Experience: 6 months to 1 year of recent, hands-on freight dispatching experience is required. Experience with a large carrier or high-volume transportation operation is highly preferred.

Local Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the City of Edmonton (major routes, areas, and traffic patterns) is highly valued and necessary for successful routing.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with logistics/telematics software (Back Office, XRS, or similar) is a strong asset.

Work Ethic: Ability to manage high-volume calls and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and proven experience in handling multiple priorities.

Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a quick learner with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
