Unit 52 Orthopedic Surgery/ Plastics/ Vascular amputees. Unit 58 Vascular Surgery/ Podiatry/ Oral-Maxillo Facial/ ENT. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse - Regularized Relief Team (LPN) provides a professional, caring and comprehensive approach to surgical and medical patients.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Current IV, CVC, and PCA certifications. Experience with complex wound care and negative pressure wounds within the last year. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Strong patient teaching skills. Ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision making, nursing judgement, and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships.
