The Opportunity
The Corrugated Structural Design Manager reports to the Director of Sales Operations, is responsible for enhance the work environment and leading the corrugated design team to be ‘Best in Class’ creation, innovation and application of corrugated design elements and packaging solutions. Ensure the design team is an integral part of our growth by design strategy by having the end in mind as it concerns our clients, which directly impact customer experience. Collaborate with designers, graphic artists, customer service, estimating, sales, and production teams. Support and interact with clients to refine designs and troubleshoot issues.
What you'll do
Design Leadership:
- Leading the structural design team and process from concept to completion, providing technical direction and guidance to designers (Corrugated Packaging Specialist) as needed
- Employee engagement scores are good but could be better. This is highly dynamic team with a high level of creativity and commitment in need of a leader who can help them level up
Client Interaction:
- Collaborate with Sales and their clients to understand their needs, present high level design proposals, and addressing any concerns or feedback
Team Management:
- Supervising and mentoring a team of designers, fostering their professional development, and ensuring they have the resources to succeed
Technical Expertise:
- Familiarity with trends in corrugated packaging design, including sustainability, e-commerce solutions, and digital printing technologies
- Ability to bridging the gap between creative design and practical production, ensuring that innovative and effective packaging solutions are delivered to clients
Quality Assurance:
- Ensuring that all designs meet quality standards, comply with relevant regulations, and align with client specifications
- Review Notice of Disputes (NODs, nonconformances); drive to true root cause to ensure corrective actions plans are implemented and trained to all staff to eliminate common or new issues
What you'll bring
- Post secondary required, a bachelor’s degree is preferred; lean toward packaging and printing technology or other structural engineering for packaging
- 6+ years of experience in design management or leadership. Team management experience primarily in a dynamic high – pace environment
- Exceptional leadership, critical thinking, and patience are skills essential for managing both employees and customers
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing situations simultaneously. \Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong skills in professionalism and diplomacy
- Strong understanding of specifications, tooling, workflows, and cost controls
- Proven success leading teams through technical understanding / learning, process change and improvement initiatives
- Excellent verbal and written communication to liaise with customers, tool / die vendors, machine vendors, and internal departments
- Customer experience focused; dedicated to delivering consistent, high-quality support tailored to customer and account-specific needs
- Data analysis; analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement, includes analyzing options including impact and feasibility
- Proven ability to identify and resolve design and production issues, ensuring timely and efficient project completion
- Technical proficiency in: Artios CAD, Adobe Suite of Products, Esko and Esko Workflow, Kongsberg or other cutting table experience
- Microsoft Excell, Word, PowerPoint, and other Office 365 daily tool applications.
- Power BI and Power Automate is a plus
- Other Office 365 tools and AI apps a plus

Hiring Range : $90,000 to $110,000 per year. A candidate’s experience and knowledge may be factored into the pay a candidate receives for this position. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
