Mobile Preventative Maintenance Yard Mechanic

The Mobile Preventative Maintenance Yard Mechanic is responsible for servicing / repairing buses at various SOUTHLAND yards in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.

Hours of Work : The shift for this position is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, worked as a 12-hour shift from 6 : 00 am to 6 : 00 pm.

Duties

Ongoing maintenance / repair of buses
Travel between multiple yards to perform preventative maintenance scheduling
Diagnose equipment problems
Spring and winter maintenance
Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines

Requirements

Must hold a valid Journeyperson Ticket (either Heavy Duty or Automotive); 4th-year apprentices will also be considered

Own hand tools

Fluent in written and spoken English

2 – 5 years related experience

Valid driver’s license (class 2 or 3 considered an asset)

CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License is considered an asset

Exposure to working on diesel engines

Analytical and troubleshooting skills

Ability to comprehend / operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors)

Computer proficiency

Remuneration

Journeyperson Rate - $42.50 per hour

Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)

Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation)

Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months)

Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in the last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
