Job description

We are hiring a Mechanical Assembler to build, fit, and integrate custom plastics converting and extrusion machinery from the ground up. You will manage custom 3-to-6-week builds—including slitters, winders, and die assemblies—translating complex blueprints into high-precision equipment.

Located in Mississauga Ontario, this is a permanent full time role! Straight Days!

Advantages
-Competitive Pay: Up to $32.00/hour starting rate
-Consistent Schedule: Day shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday) with regular overtime opportunities paid at 1.5x (~1 hour/day).
-Apprenticeship Sponsorship: Employer actively sponsors and signs off on hours toward the 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright certification.
-Health & Wellness: Comprehensive coverage—including Health, Dental, Short-Term/Long-Term Disability, Life, and AD&D Insurance—effective after 3 months.
-Financial Perks: 3% employer RRSP matching after 3 months.
-Safety Gear Allowances: $120 annual work boot allowance and $300 prescription safety glasses allowance (every 2 years).

Responsibilities
-Assembly & Integration: Assemble, fit, and integrate custom web-handling and converting machinery strictly adhering to engineering blueprints and mechanical schematics.
-Drive & Structural Alignment: Precision-align, mount, and calibrate critical mechanical assemblies, including machine frames, rollers, shafts, bearings, gearboxes, and web-guiding systems.
-Precision Tuning & Quality Control: Level post-assembly rollers, verify bearing fits, set drive tensioning, and utilize precision tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, torque wrenches) to enforce strict mechanical tolerances.
-Fluid Power Installation: Assemble, route, and fit pneumatic and hydraulic lines, valves, and cylinders, performing initial pressure testing and diagnostic troubleshooting.
-Design & Engineering Support: Identify drawing discrepancies or structural defects and partner directly with engineering to execute effective design adjustments.
-Rigging & Custom Machining: Safely operate overhead cranes for heavy equipment positioning and perform benchtop modifications, custom fit-ups, and light machining as required.

Qualifications
-Education & Experience: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or 3+ years of hands-on custom industrial machinery assembly experience.
-Blueprint Reading: Strong proficiency in interpreting complex mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, and digital work instructions.

-Precision Measurement: 1+ years of practical experience utilizing precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, torque wrenches) to enforce tight tolerances.
-Fluid Power: Hands-on experience assembling, routing, and troubleshooting basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
-Technical Problem-Solving: Sharp analytical and diagnostic skills to identify design discrepancies and mechanical issues early in assembly.
-Physical Capability: Physical stamina to lift up to 30 lbs and work efficiently in an active manufacturing shop floor environment.
-Preferred Qualifications: Experience with converting, web-handling, or extrusion machinery; overhead crane operation experience
