Material controller Jobs in Toronto, ON

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join our client's growing team in Toronto. This role will be a key member of the finance leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and driving process improvements. This is a critical role that will own the accounting function and work closely with the global team to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

What You Will Be Doing:

Financial Reporting:

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process for the company and its subsidiaries
• Consolidate financial statements from three operating entities and four holding companies
• Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP (upcoming US GAAP conversion coming up)
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for Private Equity stakeholders

Audit and Compliance:

• Oversee external audit preparation and support
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Partner with external tax advisor to ensure tax compliance

Management:

• Own the financial reporting function and ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial information to stakeholders
• Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting and planning processes
• Work with the financial planning team to understand revenue recognition and accruals during the month-end closing process

Team Management:

• Provide oversight and direction to the accounting team in the Philippines
• Foster a strong working relationship with the CFO, financial planning team, and other relevant stakeholders

Technical Accounting:

• Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex accounting matters

What We Need From You:

• CPA designated (audit training preferred)
• 2+ years of relevant experience within SaaS
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)
• Knowledge of US GAAP is an asset
• Experience coaching and mentoring a small team
• System savvy, experience with NetSuite is an asset
• Advanced Excel skills
