Job description
Our client, a privately held, well-established, Canadian industrial organization is seeking a Controller. With vertically integrated operations and multiple business lines, the company plays a critical role in supporting infrastructure and development projects across North America. This role is ideal for a driven professional ready to take on a leadership position, build strong relationships with operational teams, and play a pivotal role in financial strategy and growth. The successful candidate will have the chance to directly impact the business as it expands and innovates.

What our client has to offer:
  • Excellent compensation package ranging from $110,000 to $130,000
  • Hybrid - 3 days in office, option of 2 days remote
  • An incentive bonus of up to 10% based on annual goals.
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits, including life insurance, effective from day one.
  • A robust pension plan with a 6% company contribution after one year, plus an optional company RSP.
  • Generous vacation: three weeks plus an additional paid week during the Christmas shutdown, usable as floater days.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and mentor a team of at least two general accountants, including CPA candidates.
  • Build strong, face-to-face relationships with the operations team across various locations.
  • Integrate effectively into a newly structured finance team, adapting to an elevated controller role.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Contribute to shaping divisional processes and support business growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with direct reports and the operations team to provide financial insights.

Qualifications:
  • A CPA designation is a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • Willingness for travel (approximately 10% of the time, 2 days a month) to locations throughout Southern Ontario.
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a team.
  • A personable approach and the ability to work effectively with diverse communication styles.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Oracle ERP is a plus, but not a requirement.
