Job description
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join our client's growing team in Toronto. This role will be a key member of the finance leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and driving process improvements. This is a critical role that will own the accounting function and work closely with the global team to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.
What You Will Be Doing:
Financial Reporting:
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process for the company and its subsidiaries
- Consolidate financial statements from three operating entities and four holding companies
- Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP (upcoming US GAAP conversion coming up)
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for Private Equity stakeholders
Audit and Compliance:
- Oversee external audit preparation and support
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations
- Partner with external tax advisor to ensure tax compliance
Management:
- Own the financial reporting function and ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial information to stakeholders
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting and planning processes
- Work with the financial planning team to understand revenue recognition and accruals during the month-end closing process
Team Management:
- Provide oversight and direction to the accounting team in the Philippines
- Foster a strong working relationship with the CFO, financial planning team, and other relevant stakeholders
Technical Accounting:
- Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex accounting matters
What We Need From You:
- CPA designated (audit training preferred)
- 2+ years of relevant experience within SaaS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)
- Knowledge of US GAAP is an asset
- Experience coaching and mentoring a small team
- System savvy, experience with NetSuite is an asset
- Advanced Excel skills
