Job description

Staff Plus is hiring a Maintenance Helper for our client in Scarborough. This role is essential in supporting the upkeep, repair, and continuous operation of manufacturing and facility equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, electrical knowledge, and hands-on experience with various maintenance tasks. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will contribute to ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment that supports our operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Duties

  • Assist in routine inspections and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime.
  • Support troubleshooting and repair activities involving mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform welding, electrical wiring, or mechanical repairs as needed, adhering to safety standards.
  • Support facilities maintenance tasks such as HVAC, plumbing, and general building upkeep.
  • Assist in small teams during maintenance projects, demonstrating leadership qualities.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations at all times.

  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience; familiarity with schematics essential.
  • Skilled in welding, electrical wiring, and general mechanical repairs.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; capable of clear documentation and team collaboration.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Prior experience in facilities maintenance within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
