What you will be doing:

  • Assist the kitchen steward to perform the daily tasks of the stewarding department
  • Set up and operate the dish machine to established specifications, maintaining correct temperature and chemicals are in use at all times
  • Safely handle, wash, transport & store all china, glass, silverware, small wares or other food and beverage equipment in the established locations
  • Debus, sort, organize and consolidate dishware and kitchen equipment to be washed
  • Loading and unloading the dish machine following established procedures
  • Ensure all items washed are completely clean and sanitized
  • Follow established food safety protocols and established health and safety protocols
  • Proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Safely handle, wash, transport & store all china, glass, silverware, small wares or other food and beverage equipment in the established locations
  • Wash and sanitize; kitchen small wares, utensils, pots, pans, and sanitize; kitchen equipment, kettles, tables, walls, sinks, refuse containers, ceilings etc.
  • Empty large steam kettles of bones or other organic material
  • Clean sink and drain filters in the main dish room and basement as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space at all times
  • Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling throughout the hotel, maintain clean refuse bins, resupply with garbage bags as required
  • Maintaining clean and dry floors by sweeping, mopping, squeegee etc.
  • Participate in plating and distribution of food for banquets
  • Restock and supply chemical and paper towel dispensers throughout the F&B operation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Experience in a Kitchen environment an asset
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
  • WHIMIS 2015 / GHS certification (colleagues responsibility to maintain this certification)
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work well alone or as part of a team
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving excellent results
  • Ability to prioritize, with excellent organizational capabilities
  • Demonstrated high level of responsibility and reliability
  • Impeccable grooming and presentation


Additional Information

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent raising arms above shoulder height while lifting 20 lbs
  • Frequent kneeling, twisting, stooping, reaching
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
  • Performing cleaning duties while on ladders or other elevated platforms
  • Ability to work in a hot and humid environment
  • No allergies or sensitivities to cleaning chemicals or equipment

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
