Position Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to join CGI and work on high-impact Enterprise Payments initiatives for one of Canada’s leading banks. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Developer with 7+ years of strong hands-on expertise in software development, Java 17+, Spring Boot 3, and modern microservices architecture.
In this role, you will design and develop scalable backend solutions, leveraging your expertise in core Java concepts, multithreading, and object-oriented programming. You will build and enhance RESTful APIs using Spring Boot 3 and implement message-driven communication using technologies such as Apache Kafka to support event-driven systems.
This is a permanent fulltime, hybrid position requiring 2-3 days onsite at our Atlantic Canada offices- Halifax, NS; Moncton, NB; Fredericton, NB; Stratford, PEI or St. John's, NFLD.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Develop microservices-based applications and design RESTful APIs.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.
- Optimize application performance and enhance our application architecture.
- Leverage your proficiency in containerization, message queues, and cloud deployment.
- Contribute to a dynamic, collaborative development environment.
- Design and develop highly complex and custom components.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies
- Contribute to project management activities such as: scope assessment and analysis, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures, as well as escalating and communicating possible issues.
- Communicate and collaborate with the broader product team to develop and refine features
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Programming.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Java development.
- Hands on experience with Java 17 or above.
- Proficiency in Java concepts, multithreading, and object-oriented programming.
- Experience in RESTful APIs development using Spring Boot version 3 or higher.
- Good to have experience in front-end technologies like React, Angular.
- Understanding of microservice-based architecture and database integration.
- Experience implementing message-driven communication using technologies like Apache Kafka for asynchronous processing.
- Proficiency in GIT – GitHub/BitBucket.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,–$,. This role is an existing vacancy.
