Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients / clients / residents and families : The Regional Practice Lead, Research and Knowledge Translation works in partnership across the organization to lead, cultivate, and facilitate a range of knowledge translation activities, enhancing the use of evidence in practice and decision-making. The Lead is an advocate and active role model for scholarly practice, raising the profile and engagement of research, evidence-informed practice / decision-making, and knowledge translation in the geographic area. The Lead services Fraser Health broadly by supporting individuals and teams, within and across Fraser Health, through the provision of mentorship, guidance, support, and expertise in knowledge mobilization and research-related activities and functions as an expert and liaison to the research community provincially and nationally. The Lead is responsible for supervising and managing knowledge mobilization and research-related (funded and unfunded) activities; promoting collaborative research partnerships; assisting in the development of policy, procedures, and guidelines related to implementing research evidence into practice; and working with other Health Authorities in BC to capitalize on province-wide research and knowledge translation opportunities. Responsibilities 1. Knowledge Translation Leads activities to promote knowledge mobilization, including : Supporting leadership, staff and physicians to integrate research evidence into practice. Developing strategies for the participatory and active dissemination and uptake of research findings. Providing consultation, education, and support for integrated knowledge translation of key evidence for the advancement of practice, improvement of population health, and / or enhancement of health services. Collaborating at local, provincial, and national levels to identify and engage in opportunities for capacity building in knowledge translation. Responding to internal requests for evidence synthesis that informs practice or decision- making and supervising literature review and integration by research assistants or analysts. Serving as a knowledge broker to connect and network research teams. Facilitating communication and fostering the development of research partnerships between Fraser Health employees and departments. Serving as a primary liaison for Fraser Health and its external academic partners, including universities, funding agencies, and provincial and national research or knowledge translation bodies. Serving as a Fraser Health representative on provincial and national research and knowledge translation networks. Monitoring provincial and national research priorities and opportunities and communicating these to Fraser Health, provincial counterparts, and university staff in order to develop partnerships. 2. Research and Scholarship Adopting an integrated knowledge translation approach, leads collaborative efforts to identify research questions, design creative and applied research frameworks, engage in data collection and analysis, and disseminate research results by : Collaborating with Practice Leaders, educators, knowledge coordinators, and other key teams within Fraser Health to foster, guide, and support the pursuit of research and evidence-informed practice. Engaging with academic institutions to stimulate and guide partnerships Pursuing KT and research funding in collaboration with appropriate partners. Managing KT research grants and supervising grant-related activities. Managing and supervising research staff, including administrative assistants, research assistants, research analysts, and others as appropriate. Engaging in research evaluation, using evidence-informed approaches to facilitate micro- and macro-level learning from the process of doing research. Serving as a Fraser Health Research Ethics Board delegated reviewer. Providing leadership for Fraser Health peer-review of KT research proposals. Raising the profile of Fraser Health through active publication in scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. Reporting on the progress of knowledge translation activities to Fraser Health senior leadership and the Fraser Health Board as requested. 3. Capacity Building, Teaching, and Education Provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to staff in their support of individual or team consultations related to knowledge translation. Prepares and leads education and training events to enhance KT capacity. Supports the navigation of data access and documentation required for research proposals and / or ethics reviews. Participates in provincial and national initiatives to enhance KT and research capacity for health systems strengthening. Facilitates local, provincial, and national training opportunities in KT. Qualifications Education and Experience Master's degree in a health or social science field, including training and / or experience in health services research, research methods, and knowledge translation and exchange plus a minimum of eight years of experience is required in health services delivery, management, research, or quality and quality improvement, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Professional / Technical Capabilities : Ability to lead research and / or knowledge translation and exchange activities and projects. Exceptional strength in fostering and developing partnerships. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare research, research methods, health research priorities, and current healthcare issues. Demonstrated knowledge of grant and project management. Strong verbal and written communication skills with a successful publication track record. Ability to effectively support and collaborate with Health Authority staff and university research faculty. Ability to work independently as well as in a team, to take initiative to promote research activities. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
