The Position
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology the Junior Systems Administrator plays a key role in supporting assigned business areas by managing both administrative and technical functions. As the first point of contact for internal users this role provides frontline technical support for Taproot Community Support Services business systems troubleshooting issues assisting with system access and ensuring users receive timely assistance. The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for monitoring managing and resolving the IT ticket queue ensuring requests are prioritized addressed efficiently and resolved in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs).The role includes monitoring maintaining and updating communication and IT equipment such as phones cellphones printers and computers to ensure seamless operations. The role is also responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records managing asset lifecycles and conducting data audits to identify and resolve addition the Junior Systems Administrator may occasionally assist with SharePoint-related tasks such as supporting the design and optimization of forms and documents using tools like Adobe and Microsoft Forms to help improve workflow efficiency. Exposure to or interest in this area is an asset. The position requires strong critical thinking skills attention to detail and the ability to collaborate with various teams to support system functionality and user experience.
Scheduling :
One (1) permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday 0800-1600
Position will be a hybrid model working from both the local Taproot Community Support Services administration office in Maple Ridge BC and your home-based office.
In Your Role You Will
Provide technical support to Taproot staff across all service regions ensuring seamless IT
service delivery.
Create maintain and update records to monitor and optimize business systems effectively.
Manage and maintain SharePoint Online ensuring accessibility security and efficiency.
Assist in the design and development of Microsoft Forms and fillable PDF forms to enhance workflow automation.
Prepare and configure new equipment including computers mobile devices and VoIP phones to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
Implement and manage security tools including antivirus firewalls and endpoint detection and response (EDR).
Set up and maintain telecommunications (phone TV internet) at Taproot locations.
Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
Help with educating staff on technology best practices.
Support the implementation of IT systems and processes.
Test disaster recovery procedures.
Oversee computer inventory management including replacements and responsible disposal of outdated equipment.
Manage the distribution inventory and disposal of corporate cell phones in accordance
with company policies.
Support the Taproot websites as required.
Support with data reporting as needed.
Perform additional IT-related tasks and responsibilities as needed to support business operations.
Manage the IT ticket queue ensuring timely resolution of requests according to Taproots SLAs.
- Prior to confirmation of employment all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and / or Government Screening Letter. These checks vary depending on province and sector and will be communicated by the Program Hiring Team.
As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
Diploma or degree in Computer Science Business Administration Arts or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in systems management and business processes including business analysis data management reporting and system implementation.
Experience delivering training to adult learners in a workplace environment.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint Online Microsoft Forms Microsoft Teams and related productivity platforms.
Understanding of IT asset management and hardware / software lifecycle planning.
Ability to analyze and improve business workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Experience in technical support and troubleshooting for end-users in a corporate environment.
A combination of education training and experience that meets the employers requirements may be considered.
Valid drivers license or reliable access to transportation to support job-related travel.
Required Competencies :
Some understanding of business analysis reporting design data management and system implementation.
Ability to learn and comprehend Taproots structure operations programs and clientele.
Strong interest and ability to learn new systems and technologies.
Ability to facilitate knowledge transfer and provide system expertise.
Experience in planning and delivering system training to internal stakeholders.
Strong planning and organizational skills to manage deadlines and shifting priorities.
Ability to adapt to high-pressure situations and manage critical priorities effectively.
Proven ability to foster a cooperative work environment and collaborate with diverse teams.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work remotely as needed.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint Teams) and SharePoint Online.
Some networking experience including configuration management and troubleshooting of Ubiquiti (UniFi) networking devices and infrastructure is an asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Hands-on experience with IT ticketing systems for incident request and service management
Responsible for managing the IT ticket queue and resolving requests in accordance with Taproots service level agreements (SLAs).
Some experience with SQL to extract query and analyze data for reporting and system support is an asset
Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship management skills.
Strong initiative with the ability to identify issues propose solutions and drive tasks to completion.
Ability to contact vendors and maintain positive working relationships.
