Job description
Take the Next Step in Your Public Practice Career
What if your next career move gave you the opportunity to do more than manage engagements?
Jump Recruitment is excited to conduct a search for an experienced and driven Senior Manager
on behalf of our client, located in St. John’s, NL.

WHO WE ARE:
Our client is an established and growing accounting firm seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join its team. This opportunity is ideal for a CPA or experienced accounting professional currently working in a public accounting environment who is ready for greater ownership, stronger client relationships, and a broader role in the success of the business.
You may have built a strong technical foundation at a national or large regional accounting firm. Now, you may be looking for an environment where your experience is more visible, your client relationships are deeper, and your contributions can have a more direct impact.
This is an opportunity to bring your experience to a firm where you can work closely with business owners, advise clients beyond the numbers, mentor others, and continue building toward the next stage of your career.
WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY?
This opportunity offers the chance to:
  • Take greater ownership of client relationships and engagements.
  • Work directly with business owners and senior decision-makers.
  • Expand your exposure beyond compliance and into meaningful advisory work.
  • Have greater visibility and influence within the organization.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of accounting professionals.
  • Contribute to business development and identify opportunities to add value for clients.
  • Build a career path toward increased leadership and management responsibility.
  • Work in a collaborative environment where initiative and entrepreneurial thinking are encouraged.
THE ROLE:
As a Senior Manager, you will manage and oversee a portfolio of clients while acting as a trusted advisor on a range of accounting, financial, tax, assurance, and business matters.
You will take ownership of client engagements, work directly with clients to understand their businesses and challenges, and provide practical recommendations that support their continued growth and success.
This is a role for someone who wants to move beyond simply completing engagements and instead become a valued business advisor and long-term partner to their clients.

ABOUT YOU:
Experience, Education, and Professional Development:
  • CPA designation
  • Several years of progressive experience in public accounting.
  • Experience within a large or mid-sized accounting firm is considered an asset.
  • Strong experience across assurance, accounting, tax, and/or advisory services.
  • Experience managing multiple engagements and competing priorities.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge to real-world business situations.
  • Experience working with privately held, entrepreneurial, and/or owner-managed businesses.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.
  • The confidence and professionalism to work directly with business owners and senior decision-makers.
  • Experience reviewing work and providing coaching and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an interest in understanding the business behind the financial statements.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to identify opportunities to add value.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
Key Functions and Competencies:
  • Manage a portfolio of clients and develop strong, trusted relationships.
  • Lead and oversee client engagements from planning through completion.
  • Prepare and/or review financial statements, working papers, and other accounting deliverables.
  • Provide accounting, assurance, tax, and advisory support based on client needs.
  • Work directly with business owners and senior leaders to understand their financial and operational priorities.
  • Translate financial information into practical insights and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve clients' financial and operational performance.
  • Review work prepared by junior and intermediate team members.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and meaningful feedback to support the development of team members.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of new client relationships and opportunities.
  • Stay current with accounting standards, tax requirements, and relevant professional developments.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the practice.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
More ownership. More visibility. More opportunity.
Our client offers an environment where experienced accounting professionals can take their careers in a new direction while continuing to work with sophisticated clients and challenging business matters.
You can expect:
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Professional development and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Meaningful client exposure and relationship-building opportunities.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Increased autonomy and responsibility.
  • Opportunities to mentor and develop others.
  • A clear path toward increased leadership and management responsibility.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the growth of the firm.

Is This Your Next Move?

If you are currently working at a large or mid-sized accounting firm and have reached the point where you're looking for more than the next promotion, this could be an opportunity worth exploring.
Perhaps you're ready for:
  • More client ownership.
  • More advisory exposure.
  • More influence.
  • More autonomy.
  • More opportunity to shape your career.
