School of Rock Vancouver is expanding to Langley, and we are looking for talented, high-energy music instructors to join our growing team as we build our newest location! This is a unique opportunity to be part of launching a brand new School of Rock while while training with an award-winning School of Rock location recognized as a Top 10 school worldwide!
This role is ideal for musicians who love teaching, thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments, and want to be part of something more than just weekly lessons. Our instructors play a key role in shaping student experiences, building confidence, and preparing students for real live performances as part of a band. We are especially interested in multi-instrumentalists, but we also welcome exceptional instructors who specialize in a single instrument and bring strong teaching ability and great energy.

ROLE OVERVIEWThis role is structured in phases:
May to June (Training Phase In Vancouver):The successful candidate will be based out of our Vancouver location for training on a casual basis. During this period, you will learn the School of Rock Method, teaching systems, and student development approach while shadowing and teaching lessons, supporting rehearsals, and participating in shows and events.
This phase is designed to fully prepare you for your role at the Langley location.
July onward (Langley Location):Once the Langley school opens, you will transition to being permanently based in Langley as part of the founding instructional team. You will teach lessons, support rehearsals, and help deliver an exceptional student experience as the school grows.
This is an entirely in-person role. No remote work is available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Music Instruction: - Deliver lessons to beginner students using the School of Rock Method with School of Rock Method Books and Method App
- Document and report on student progress in School of Rock systems at the end of each lesson
- Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
- Be sure students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs
- Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
- Attend and successfully complete all required training
- Attend and participate in occasional meetings, as well as seasonal events and shows
- Assist with school and instrument maintenance and repairs as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents and admin on progress of students after lessons
- Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
- Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of programs and other tasks
- Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school
- Adhere to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, employee manual, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy and other policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS - 2 + years of experience as a musician - performing and/or teaching
- Ability to teach one or more of the following instruments at the beginner to advanced levels: Guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach 3 or more instruments
- Diploma or degree in music and music theory from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal well with a wide range of people
- Strong organizational, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, kind, and positive demeanor, with a passion for teaching
- Experience working with youth is an asset
- Excellent team player who loves to collaborate with others
- A clean criminal record background check is required and is a condition of employment
- This position is entirely in-person. No remote work is available.
- This position is a casual / on-call, part-time position with shifts typically between 1pm to 9pm on weekdays, and 10am - 6pm on weekends. Shift length, times and days are subject to change and may vary depending on scheduled events and lesson schedules. Shifts are not guaranteed.
SCHEDULING & COMMITMENT - May to June: Part-time training at our Vancouver location
- July onward: Transition to Langley location
- Ongoing: Part-time, variable hours based on lesson schedules and rehearsals
- Typical shifts include weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends
