About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join one of Canada’s premier heavy civil contractors on a landmark infrastructure project in British Columbia.

We are seeking an experienced Project Director with a proven background leading large-scale heavy civil construction projects, including complex concrete structures, transportation infrastructure, transit, bridges, marine works, and major civil infrastructure assignments.

This role is ideal for a senior construction leader who thrives in technically demanding environments and has successfully managed large project teams, complex stakeholder relationships, and major infrastructure operations from pre-construction through project completion.

The position is based on a rotational out-of-town schedule of 14 days on / 7 days off and offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role on one of the region’s most significant heavy civil projects.

The company is recognized for:

  • Landmark infrastructure projects across Canada
  • Complex heavy civil and structural concrete expertise
  • Strong self-perform construction capabilities
  • Financial strength and long-term project backlog
  • Collaborative leadership culture and operational excellence

This is a career-defining opportunity for a Project Director seeking high-profile project exposure within a nationally respected infrastructure contractor.

The Role

As the Project Director, you will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for a major heavy civil infrastructure project, overseeing all aspects of project execution including operations, commercial performance, scheduling, safety, staffing, client relations, and project delivery.

You will lead multidisciplinary project teams while working closely with executive leadership, clients, consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

This role requires strong operational leadership, commercial acumen, and deep experience managing technically complex infrastructure projects within demanding construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level leadership for a major heavy civil infrastructure project
  • Oversee all project operations including construction, commercial management, scheduling, procurement, and staffing
  • Lead Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, and project support teams
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Drive project strategy, execution planning, and operational performance
  • Manage client relationships, stakeholder coordination, and executive reporting
  • Oversee risk management, change management, forecasting, and cost control activities
  • Support project staffing, mentorship, and team development initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with senior operations and executive leadership teams
  • Monitor overall project productivity, quality, and financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead high-level planning, problem-solving, and decision-making activities throughout the project lifecycle

Who You Are

  • 15+ years of leadership experience within heavy civil or infrastructure construction
  • Proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure projects valued in the hundreds of millions
  • Strong background in:
    • Structural concrete
    • Heavy civil infrastructure
    • Bridges and transportation projects
    • Transit infrastructure
    • Marine or major public infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated success managing large project teams and complex field operations
  • Strong commercial, contractual, and operational management experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working within highly technical and schedule-driven project environments
  • Strong understanding of construction risk management, scheduling, and project controls
  • Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical background is considered an asset
  • Ability to work rotational schedules and travel for project assignments
