Additional Information Eyēʔ Sqȃ’lewen: The Centre for Indigenous Education & Community Connections (IECC) seeks applications from qualified candidates for a term instructor position in Indigenous Studies (IST), Teaching may be asynchronous/online, held at the Lansdowne Campus. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to teach one or more courses and course sections. IECC is seeking instructors for the following course:

IST – Circle Seminar 3
This course supports students to develop advanced circle learning skills and practical applications of the learning acquired from the IST program, including interacting with community.
Grounded in a strong commitment to Indigenous community, Indigenous education and relational values, and lived experiences, IECC Instructors transform students’ worlds by recognizing them as intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual beings. Our students engage in holistic education and learn in classrooms, in community, and on the land with supportive instructors who are culturally informed, student centered, and value preparing students for achieving their educational, employment, and community contribution goals.

The following is required for successful employment at Camosun College:
• A demonstrated commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning
• Active participation in our learner centered environment while promoting excellence in program discipline
• Ability to plan, organize and evaluate teaching approaches and outcomes to maximize student learning
• Commitment to current and trending philosophies, practices and advancements
• Adherence to, and compliance with teaching related policies, procedures and protocols
• A consistent demonstration of excellence and respect in verbal and written communications
• An ability to contribute to and cultivate collegial and collaborative work relationships
• Comfort and familiarity with educational technology and MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel
• Capable of thriving in a BC post-secondary education setting that’s welcoming and relevant to Indigenous learners and helping to prepare non-Indigenous students, graduates and employees to better understand, live alongside of, and work with Indigenous peoples.
• A commitment to sustainable practices within our environment and society Qualifications Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related field or combination of experience in Indigenous education.-Expertise in and experience with implementing Indigenous Circle Pedagogy/Protocols.-A strong grounding in Indigenous trauma-informed, person-centered, solutions-focused, and healing-oriented, theory and practice.
-Training and experience in conflict management.-An understanding of Camosun Colleges student supports, resources, and policies an asset.
-Strong connections and experience with local Indigenous community partners and organizations considered a strength. Capabilities The core capabilities are required for all positions at the college.
