About This Role :
The Logistics Coordinator, under the direction of the Logistics Manager, is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of our client’s company fleet coming in and out of their Brampton facility, load planning and helping to maximize the overall Company fleet.
This position will negotiate common carrier use and all other duties related to shipping products out of the Brampton location, including coordinating shipments between Brampton and their other locations as well.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all established delivery commitments are met and that all shipped product conforms to company quality standards as it relates to shipping;
- Coordinate shipping activities with all other functions within the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum performance from the internal fleet and the outside carriers;
- Coordinate shipments with the other locations to ensure maximum efficiency;
- Develop and maintain relationships with outside carriers to ensure availability of extra capacity as required and to ensure cost competitiveness with all carriers;
- Create purchase orders for all outside carrier charges;
- Ensure optimum efficiency of shipping operations by :
- Setting up all local deliveries;
- Scheduling inbound coil pick-ups to maximize fleet utilization; o Scheduling coil pick-ups from outside suppliers;
- Scheduling transfer pick-ups from other locations;
- Setting up all outside carrier deliveries for Ontario and other provinces; o
- Setting up all Quebec, Eastern, and Western loads for our internal fleet; o
- Ensuring that all Pick-up customers are loaded as quickly as possible.
- Work closely with Plant Supervisors and Production Scheduling to arrange daily workloads for shipping;
- Manage drivers to ensure efficiency of all daily runs;
- Document employee coaching and disciplinary conversations;
- Utilize route planning software to optimize delivery capacity;
- Scheduling all trucks and trailers for service, reporting monthly mileage;
- Maintain all IFTA fuel receipts and utilize the reporting software;
- Apply for and maintain all specialty truck and trailer permits;
- Monitor and manage Omnitracs GPS system for driver’s hours and note any discrepancies;
- Ensure hours of work are in compliance with government rules;
- Work closely with the Logistics and Loading teams on day-to-day priorities;
- Ensure that the shipping area and yard stay clean and organized; make health and safety a priority
- Lead and inspire other to perform well and to continually “raise the bar”;
- Manage difficult customer situations in a professional manner;
- Respond promptly to customer needs both internally and externally;
- Find effective and creative ways to handle problems and find solutions;
- Promote a team environment and uphold the company values;
- Other duties as assigned.
