Join a team that’s naturally committed to the environment.

Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Prairies and Territories Environmental Services group is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to work with our Assessment and Permitting team. This role supports environmental review and licensing, an increasingly critical component of development projects across Canada and globally. We are looking for a motivated, collaborative team player who is passionate about making a positive impact on the environment. There’s no end to the scope and significance of your work, and to where it can take you at Stantec.

The team is based across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and while we embrace our core value that “we are better together”, we do offer flexible work solutions and hybrid work situations. Organizational skills and the ability to support multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced company are essential qualities. The successful candidate will support projects to meet their regulatory requirements and facilitate the completion of deliverables concerning the regulatory approval processes and compliance.

The role can be based in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Yellowknife or Winnipeg offices, with Saskatoon as the preferred location.

  • Support the development and mentorship of junior and intermediate staff

  • Participate in team and independent based work

  • Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, standards and guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSE professionals during the execution of all project phases

Your Capabilities and Experience

  • Direct experience leading or supporting projects in western Canada, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, or Yukon

  • Strong understanding of provincial, territory and federal regulations, environmental assessment processes, permitting requirements and construction planning needs

  • Experience in, or a solid understanding of, the consulting industry in a multidisciplinary environment
