Job description

Your Opportunity:

Emergency Health Services – Alberta (EHS-AB) is one of Canada’s largest and most integrated emergency medical systems, providing care to more than 750,000 Albertans each year. Through a province-wide model that brings together dispatch, ground ambulance, aeromedical response, and specialized clinical programs, EHS-AB delivers coordinated care across diverse urban and rural communities. As Manager, Health Hub, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the day-to-day delivery and continuous improvement of clinician-led programs that transform how patients access care across the system. Working within the broader Health Hub leadership structure and reporting to the Program Director, this role provides operational oversight for programs including Clinicians in Dispatch, Secondary Triage, Health Evaluation and Linkage Paramedic (HELP) units, and Interfacility Transport (IFT) processes and business rules, in partnership with the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC). You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team responsible for the execution, coordination, and performance of these programs, ensuring patients are connected to the right care pathway while supporting effective use of paramedic resources. This role plays an important part in aligning clinical intent with real-time system coordination to support strong decision-making, patient flow, and operational performance. Working closely with internal teams, healthcare partners, and community agencies, you will help strengthen system efficiency, improve patient outcomes, and reduce unnecessary transports. Alberta’s integrated EMS model offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful system improvement, support frontline practitioners, and help shape the future of emergency medical services in Alberta.

Description:

The Manager, Health Hub provides operational leadership for provincially integrated programs that support real-time system coordination, patient flow, and resource optimization across EHS. This role translates provincial strategy into consistent, high-performing operations that ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate care pathway while preserving emergency resources for time-sensitive events. Accountable for Clinicians in Dispatch, HELP units, Secondary Triage, the Manager ensures clinical decision-making is effectively integrated with system status and deployment needs. This role works closely with the Interfacility Transport (IFT) Manager to align system coordination with patient movement across the province, supporting safe, efficient, and appropriate transfers. In partnership with the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), Emergency Communications, and EHS Operations, the Manager supports real-time decision-making that balances demand and capacity across the system. This includes enabling timely escalation, supporting operational adjustments, and ensuring coordination functions remain responsive and reliable in a dynamic environment. The Manager leads a team of supervisors and frontline staff in a high-pressure, time-sensitive setting, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role is essential in ensuring system coordination aligns with clinical intent, improves patient outcomes, reduces unnecessary transports, and strengthens overall system efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

Progressive senior leadership experience in emergency health services, healthcare operations, or a complex health system environment. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in high-demand, dynamic settings. Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, including introducing new models of care. Experience working within or alongside emergency communications, dispatch, or patient flow environments.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Health Sciences, Paramedicine, Health Administration, or a related discipline. Current clinical designation in a regulated health profession (where applicable). Additional education or certification in leadership, quality improvement, or healthcare innovation. Experience with clinician-led triage, navigation, or alternative response models (, secondary triage, virtual care, community paramedicine).
