GRH older adult units that specializes in rehabilitation medicine is recruiting an evening Unit Clerk that can help support the smooth operation of the unit. The UC is part of the MDT team that provides support for a fast paced busy 39 bed unit. The unit requires a UC that can work efficiently in a hectic environment with competing demands. The UC is responsible for WFM liaise work, answering phone calls, ordering supplies, Connect Care duties, filing, and coordinating daily routines including, portering, contacting families, responding to patient concerns /requests, booking transportation, picking up equipment and supporting the RN in charge, physicians and the MDT. The clerk is also responsible for organizing the Nurses station and other office areas on the unit. This position requires the unit clerk to be able to walk long distances throughout the shift and to lift and carry supplies, paper, and other unit items.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including but not limited to walking, bending, lifting, standing and sitting for extended periods of time ability to lift up to 25-50lbs). Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Unit clerk certificate or diploma. Recent acute care experience, proficiency in MS office, WFM and Connect care.
