We currently have an opportunity in our HR/Safety team for a Safety & HR Coordinator working out of our Merritt, BC location. In this role, there will be a combination of office administration, regulation compliance monitoring, being active in the plant with safety initiatives, and conducting training.

As a Safety & HR Coordinator, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Being a resource to leaders and employees, answering questions, and promoting best practices in human resources, and safety
  • Conducting or assisting with various HR and safety training
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating records and documentation with accuracy
  • Completing ergonomic assessments, safety audits, fit tests, and various safety inspections
  • Assisting with incident reports, WCB claims, disability claims, and case management
  • Participating with the Joint Health & Safety Committee and being a First Aid Responder, including involvement handling serious incidents
  • Partnering with the team to plan and execute corporate and safety events
  • Maintaining and supplying PPE and safety supplies as needed; including coordinating, scheduling, and assisting hearing tests and custom hearing protection
  • Participating in ongoing learning and networking within the community
  • Other safety and HR duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislations, and regulations and comfortable researching information as necessary
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction, operating equipment is considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to write documents, teach/facilitate training, and coach peers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, being able to work independently connecting with team members in other locations, while working in a team environment
  • Effective problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible in required tasks
  • Excellent computer knowledge in using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license to travel as required
  • Willingness to take various train-the-trainer courses, first aid, and college certifications as requested by the company
