As part of SaskPower’s management team, this role serves as a central point of contact for managing strategic and operational functions, offering expert advice and guidance aligned with departmental and corporate objectives.

This position provides technical team leadership for an application support team. The role provides day-to-day coordination of support activities, leads technical decision-making for incidents, problems, and changes, and oversees solution design for system enhancements to ensure stability, reliability, and alignment with architectural and security standards. As a primary escalation point, this position works closely with business partners, other SaskPower support teams, solution architects, management, and vendors to resolve complex issues and maintain service continuity across critical business applications. The position supports team effectiveness through prioritisation, mentoring, and knowledge sharing, with a strong emphasis on technical leadership, service delivery, and platform stewardship, without direct responsibility for software development or managing employee performance.

• Identify new business solutions and operational efficiencies, while providing recommendations that have a significant impact on SaskPower’s business operations and strategies.
• Lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects to provide functional expertise for corporate and departmental strategic planning initiatives.
• Represent the department and prepare and present material to internal and external audiences as required, including leading regular check-in meetings with business stakeholders, operational support groups, and application vendor representatives.
• Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices related to the area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower’s operational environment, ensuring alignment with business stakeholder needs and regulatory requirements as applicable.
• Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required, including:
• Leading the delivery process for business enhancement requests for Application Management applications.
• Maintaining technical documentation, standards, templates, and processes for the Application Management team.
• Acting as an escalation point for Application Management issues, including business and vendor concerns.
• Other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
• Five (5) years of related experience installing, supporting and enhancing a variety of applications on different technical platforms including: 2 tier client server, web based applications and/or SaaS applications utilizing various technologies such as MS IIS, SQLServer, Oracle, Apache, etc.
• Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
• Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
• Excellent analytical, research and problem solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work and manage in a changing environment
• Excellent facilitation, project management and decision making skills
• Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
