Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for casual Youth Worx assistant positions at our Central Halifax, Northwest Arm, Lakeside, and Sackville locations in the Recreation Programming division of Parks & Recreation.

Casual Operations Assistant provide frontline customer service support to both staff and the public in our job experience environments, provide accurate and timely assistance to Youth WORX program participants and report directly to the Operations Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets youth / public in a professional manner and assists as needed.
- May open, secure and close building.
- Assists program participants with job experience tasks.
- Performs POS transactions and inventory control.
- Engages with program participants in a professional and respectful manner.
- Models’ appropriate workplace behaviour
- Performs general labour duties such as Green Cart Repairs/Deliveries, yard and warehouse organization and clean up.
- Keeps work area clean and organized.
- Informs supervisor of any issues or complaints received during shift.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:- Minimum Grade 10 required or equivalent.
- Must enjoy working with the public in a customer service capacity.
- Must have previous Youth WORX (Youth Live) experience.
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge:- Working knowledge of computers and various software
- Working knowledge of general hand tools and moving equipment.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures required (after hire).
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (after hire).
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and/or alone.
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and in writing.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

WORK STATUS: 10 – 15 hrs./Weekly, Casual.
HOURS OF WORK: Various shifts daytime, evenings, and weekends and flexibility to work additional hours when available.
SALARY: $18.75 per hour
WORK LOCATION: 1300 St Margaret’s Bay Rd, 409 Glendale Ave, 260 Dingle Rd, and 5775 Cogswell St.
