The position will provide specialized civil engineering expertise and technical support for the construction of trenchless crossings and civil works for capital projects.

The position is also accountable for stewardship and continuous improvement of civil and trenchless construction standards.
Trenchless crossing installations include horizontal direction drilling, micro tunnelling, auger boring, and direct pipe.

Civil and structural installation include foundations, concrete works, structural supports, earthworks and survey.

The position will play a key role in interpreting design documents, supporting field execution, resolving construction issues, and maintaining alignment with safety, integrity, and technical excellence.

Specific Accountabilities:

• Provide civil and trenchless engineering solutions to design and construction including technical support for Projects.

• Support early‑stage project development by evaluating trenchless feasibility, constructability, ground conditions, and civil risk for new business opportunities, recognizing the significant financial and operational impact of decisions made in this role.

• Provide civil/structural support/recommendations to project teams including drawing package reviews, request for information, technical standard deviations and change requests.

• Maintain compliance to Enbridge quality and technical standards as well as industry standards.

• Lead continuous improvement of civil and structural engineering standards, construction guidelines, and procedures to ensure they remain current, practical, and aligned with safety, reliability, and engineering best practices.

• Enhance corporate understanding of civil and structural construction activities through the development and implementation of formal and informal training programs.

• Strategize opportunities for, and contribute to, technical investigations, failure analyses, and trials of new methods, materials, or technologies related to civil and structural engineering.

• Enhance wellness and safety culture through completion of required safety training and participation in safety and wellness initiatives.

• Share highly technical information and knowledge in a way that other stakeholders are able to understand and operate.

• Support the companies' values of safety, integrity, respect and high performance.

Scope/Dimensions:

As a deep expert in civil, trenchless and structural disciplines.

This position will require significant independent judgment and discretion when carrying out technical work within the individual’s area of expertise.

Recommendations will have far‑reaching implications, may commit the business unit to action, and must be technically sound—even in situations where limited ability exists to test or validate the recommendation before implementation.

Provides technical stewardship for a large civil and trenchless infrastructure asset base, where performance, constructability, and ground interaction are critical to long‑term integrity

Your influence, professional network, and industry contacts will be relied upon routinely to support high‑quality engineering decisions.

• Currently registered or seeking registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in one or more Canadian provinces—preferably Alberta

• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in civil and trenchless crossing construction.

• Ability to assess performance issues related to civil and structural construction activities and address them while balancing technical, business, risk, and financial inputs, and to make recommendations that consider both the immediate problem and the broader impacts on the overall system.

• Demonstrated ability to use a risk assessment approach to support complex civil and trenchless technical issues.

• Demonstrate business acumen and ability to contribute to strategic planning, thinking, and to lead and manage change.

• Proven capability to influence, prioritize and effectively manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines while managing stakeholder expectations

• Demonstrated critical thinking skills related both to technical engineering/reliability and practical implementation.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders in both formal and informal settings.

• Experience contributing to standards development, technical governance, or industry working groups related to trenchless and civil construction.

• Owner‑operator or field‑based experience supporting trenchless construction, investigations, or failure analysis.

Working Conditions:

• Approximately 90% Office Environment-vs-10 % in a field, shop or operating facility and at outside operations in all types of weather.

• Air travel within Canada and US, occasional local travel driving company vehicle or rental vehicle (10-20%)
