Job description
Job Title: Shipper/Receiver – Manufacturing Warehouse
Job Description

This role is a hands-on shipper/receiver position within a busy manufacturing warehouse that produces large industrial wheels for heavy mining equipment. You will safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes, manage inbound and outbound shipments, support inventory control, and collaborate closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure materials flow smoothly through the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document daily pre-use safety inspections on assigned forklifts in accordance with company procedures and WorkSafeBC standards.
  • Safely operate sit-down counterbalance forklifts to move heavy steel products throughout the production shop, yard, and warehouse.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and equipment while following safe handling procedures and securing loads properly.
  • Operate forklifts safely in adverse conditions such as snow, rain, wind, and low light, maintaining strong situational awareness and hazard recognition.
  • Refuel propane-powered forklifts and handle propane cylinders safely, following all safety and certification requirements.
  • Recharge electric forklifts using correct charging procedures and station safety protocols.
  • Pick, package, and stage parts for inventory storage, onsite manufacturing orders, intercompany branch transfers, and export shipments.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move and position heavy steel components safely and efficiently.
  • Use proper lifting techniques and appropriate material handling equipment to manage loads over 50 lbs while minimizing risk of injury or product damage.
  • Ensure materials are handled, staged, and stored in a way that protects product integrity, prevents damage, and maintains clear labeling and organized placement.
  • Maintain clear aisles, safe stacking heights, and strong housekeeping standards to reduce risk and improve workflow throughout the warehouse and yard.
  • Load and unload shipments from commercial transport vehicles, including dry vans, flat decks, and sea containers.
  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, inspect goods for damage or discrepancies, and promptly report any issues.
  • Process receiving documentation accurately and update system records to reflect inventory movements and status changes.
  • Assist with material staging for outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy of quantities, dimensions, and load security prior to dispatch.
  • Collaborate closely with Warehouse, Shipping, and Production teams to optimize workflow, prioritize tasks, and meet operational deadlines.
  • Participate actively in QDIPS (Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity, Safety) meetings to support continuous improvement and departmental performance goals.
  • Enter data accurately within manufacturing and warehouse workflows, including inventory transactions, order movement, and manufacturing staging processes.
  • Follow standardized work procedures to maintain accuracy, traceability, and consistency in all warehouse and shipping activities.
  • Work independently while communicating effectively with leads and supervisors, demonstrating initiative and leadership qualities in daily tasks.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience operating a sit-down counterbalance (SDCB) forklift.
  • Hands-on experience working in an industrial shop or manufacturing setting.
  • Valid certifications to operate propane-powered and electric forklifts, including refueling and recharging procedures.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using ERP systems to perform inventory control and data entry.
  • Practical experience with inventory management, including inventory control, cycle counts, and inventory transactions.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating leadership qualities in a team environment.
  • Comfort with handling and moving loads over 50 lbs using safe lifting techniques and material handling equipment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when verifying shipments, processing documentation, and updating system records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using CSI (Syteline) ERP system is an asset.
  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with overhead crane operation or willingness to be trained.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Proactive, safety-focused mindset and willingness to participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as QDIPS.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
Why Work Here?
