BACI is looking to hire Adult Residence Workers who Skilled in supporting from a Harm Reduction approach, knowledgeable with supports for people who live with addictions, able to maintain boundaries and consistency.

Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) has been supporting people with disabilities for decades. We’ve learned a lot over those years and our learning has shaped the evolution of our services, our advocacy efforts, and the way we help build inclusive communities.

Adult Residence Workers at BACI support people we serve to explore and reach their highest potential through precise implementation of person-centred support plans. Residence Worker advance inclusion by encouraging and supporting people to explore community and belonging and by increasing independence. The ideal Residence Worker candidate demonstrates creativity, ability to remain calm under pressure, a willingness to support people who may display challenging behaviour, ability to collaborate and work with an integrated care team, and a passion for supporting people to explore and expand their communities and interests!

POSITION: Regular Full-Time Residence Support Worker

LOCATION: Burnaby, BC

SALARY: $25.95 - $29.76

HOURS: 37.5 hours/week SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 11:00AM - 6:30PM

Responsibilities:

  • Support people in a shared-living home to have positive control of their home and to be active members of their community
  • Ensuring that individuals are connected to friends and family.
  • Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices.
  • Encouraging and recognizing individuals' contributions.
  • Ensuring that individuals are safe and to promote their health and well-being.
  • To assist individuals to gain knowledge and skills to enhance their independence and/or ability to participate in their community. The position enhances the quality of life for people. The position functions as part of a team.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a University or Community College with an appropriate degree or certificate in Human Service OR an equivalent of education and experience may be considered.
  • First Aid/ CPR
  • Non-Violent Intervention training preferred.
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License required.
