Job description

About the Opportunity

RhynoCare is seeking an experienced Personal Support Worker (PSW) to work in Long Term Care facilities in Cambridge, ON. You will be hired and onboarded with RhynoCare as an Independent Contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, document, and promptly report changes in residents' physical, emotional or cognitive status to the primary nurse to support ongoing assessment and care planning
  • Complete all documentation on time, and in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is both current and accurate.
  • Assist resident with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, toileting, and feeding, while promoting dignity and independence.
  • Assist in the safe transfer, positioning, and mobility of residents using proper techniques and equipment, and in accordance with facility policies
  • Provide care in accordance with the Fixing Long‑Term Care Act, 2021 (S.O. 2021, c. 39, Sch. 1), best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in agency risk management program related to resident care.
  • Participate in quality improvement program related to resident care.
  • Participate in new staff/student mentoring as assigned and promote educational opportunities to enhance their education.
  • Participate in departmental, Interdisciplinary Team and resident safety meetings.
  • Promote good understanding and teamwork between shifts, registered and unregulated staff
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including:
  • Use all equipment in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  • Follow established safety procedures for lock outs.
  • Wear proper safety equipment and PPE when necessary.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Rhynocare's mission of delivering high-quality, compassionate care by upholding the values of discipline, integrity, collaboration, and empowerment.
  • Provide care that is guided by innovation, respect, and a dedication to supporting healthier, more fulfilling lives for all individuals.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to speak a second language is considered an asset.
  • Must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Successful completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a Community College or a school approved by the National Association of Career Colleges OR
    • RN/RPN students with successful completion of Year 1
  • Experience working as a Facility PSW is considered an asset.

Compensation

  • Pay: $27 / hour
