Position Details

Reporting to the Director of Application Engineering , the Application Engineer is responsible for the design, application engineering, specification, preparation and coordination of proposals with the Commercial Ventilation team for Swegon North America.

The Application Engineer will support the team assisting in the application of Swegon products sold in North America including air cooled chillers, air sourced heat pumps, chilled beam systems, ventilation systems, airflow control systems and other various HVAC products.

Responsibilities

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Swegon RSM’s and Rep’s, mechanical consulting engineers, architects, contractors and etc. to provide application engineering solution for commercial HVAC systems
  • Work seamlessly with internal and external key stakeholders providing comprehensive and ‘best in class’ levels of service and support
  • Technical Skills

  • Become a Swegon factory expert for Hydronic and airside products, including Air Cooled HP Chillers, DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems) and chilled beam systems
  • Become subject matter expert in integrated system design on air side / water side equipment.
  • Design Engineering

  • Design or reverse engineer HVAC systems and control systems providing high level application engineering and sales support for energy efficient commercial HVAC solutions.
  • Utilizing advanced knowledge in psychrometric chart, relative humidity, air / water systems, etc. in the context of HVAC Controls and applications
  • Sales and Customer Support

  • Achieve personal and group sales objectives, generate schedules and modify product specifications with competitive advantages
  • Create budgets and confirm pricing, and leverage product selection software for system design
  • Work with product selection software for Air Coolers / heat pumps, DOAS and Chilled Beam System design
  • Deliver post order customer service support, resolving commercial issues with the representatives and troubleshooting HVAC system and control system challenges.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, building engineering or equivalent, a Master’s degree would be considered an asset
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience within the HVAC field, specifically in hydronic systems
  • Strong knowledge of psychrometrics and heat pump chillers
  • Proficiency with Dedicated Outside Air Systems (DOAS) and HVAC Controls
  • Strong analytical and calculation skills
  • AutoCAD, Revit and HVAC mechanical system design skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage several simultaneous projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASHRAE standards – 55, 62.1, 90.1
  • Superior Microsoft Office and Excel Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience conducting presentations
  • Project management skills
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
