About Our Client

Our client is a reputable GTA-based developer specializing in low and mid-rise infill housing projects that prioritize thoughtful community integration, responsible intensification, and improved standards of living.

Known for taking a housing-forward approach, the organization actively supports the communities where they build and advocates for smarter policy that enables sustainable growth across the region.

Beyond development, they are committed to pushing the boundaries on housing reform, working to improve municipal and provincial policies that influence housing supply, infrastructure planning, and livable communities.

This developer believes that responsible development should be a community solution, not just a commercial activity.

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact, visible role combining government relations, community organizing, and digital advocacy.

As the Manager, Government Relations & Community Affairs, you will help influence housing policy while strengthening relationships across municipal and provincial government.

You will also play a key role in shaping public narrative by leveraging both traditional media and social platforms to amplify important housing and development issues.

This is a newly created position with strong long-term growth potential and the opportunity to build a meaningful advocacy platform backed by an active and respected developer.

Key Policy Focus Areas

You will help drive advocacy and engagement around:

  • Housing policy and HST rebate reform

  • Building code modernization

  • Cash-in-lieu of parkland policy

  • Municipal planning and development regulations

  • Infrastructure and traffic policy

  • Local community issues impacting housing supply

Success will include:

  • Positive influence on municipal (Toronto, Mississauga) and provincial policy conversations

  • Strong relationships within City Hall and Queen’s Park

  • Growing coalitions that support responsible housing development

  • Increased visibility across media and digital platforms

Requirements

What You’ll Do

Government Engagement

  • Build relationships with elected officials, senior political staff, and policy advisors

  • Monitor and track policy developments affecting housing and development

  • Support municipal and provincial advocacy efforts

Community & Coalition Building

  • Work with nonprofits, BIAs, civic groups, and industry organizations

  • Organize discussions, roundtables, and collaborative initiatives around housing solutions

  • Help align community stakeholders around responsible development

Public Narrative & Digital Advocacy

  • Help shape conversations around housing and development policy

  • Leverage social media platforms to amplify advocacy initiatives

  • Support media engagement and public commentary

  • Help position development as a community-focused solution

Ideal Candidate Profile

You likely bring 5–8 years of experience in areas such as:

  • Government relations or public affairs

  • Political advisory roles (municipal or provincial)

  • Housing or civic nonprofit advocacy

  • Policy communications or digital advocacy

  • Trade associations or public policy consulting

You also bring:

  • Understanding of Toronto municipal government and Ontario provincial policy

  • Strong communication skills across media and digital platforms

  • Ability to translate policy issues into clear public narratives

  • Interest in housing, infrastructure, and urban development issues

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort helping build a new function

Benefits

Why This Role Matters

Toronto’s housing landscape is evolving rapidly.

This role offers the chance to help shape conversations, influence policy outcomes, and strengthen collaboration between communities, government, and responsible developers.

You will have the support of a reputable developer with real projects, real community impact, and a long-term commitment to improving housing outcomes.

Thank you for your interest in this opportunity. We appreciate the time and effort candidates invest in applying.

Our team will review applications and contact individuals whose experience and background most closely align with the role requirements.

Our client and our recruitment team are committed to fair and equitable hiring practices. Employment decisions are made based on qualifications, experience, and the ability to perform the responsibilities of the role.
