Job description

We are partnering with a global leader to find a junior-to-intermediate Automation specialist to join their validation team in Toronto. This is a hands-on technical contract role with real growth potential — strong performers may be considered for extension or conversion to full-time.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Write, maintain, and execute automated test scripts in Python and Perl
  • Support the migration of existing Perl scripts to Python
  • Use an internal validation tool to verify system requirements are correctly mapped in data
  • Analyze software requirements and support formal verification activities
  • Execute test cases in lab environments, including stress-test scenarios
  • Document and track anomalous system behaviour
  • Communicate test results clearly to engineers and supervisors
  • Support integration of scripts into automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines

Must-Haves

  • 2-3 years of hands-on Python experience
  • Working knowledge of Perl scripting
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong English communication skills — written and verbal
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Agile, SCRUM, or DevOps methodologies

Nice to Have

  • CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) experience
  • Railway signaling background
  • Embedded or real-time systems testing experience
  • Familiarity with Git or version control systems
  • Experience in regulated industries (rail, aerospace, medical)

This is a hybrid role, 6-month contract with potential for extension or full-time conversion

Hourly Rate Range: $35-$37/hour
