We are partnering with a global leader to find a junior-to-intermediate Automation specialist to join their validation team in Toronto. This is a hands-on technical contract role with real growth potential — strong performers may be considered for extension or conversion to full-time.

What You’ll Be Doing

Write, maintain, and execute automated test scripts in Python and Perl
Support the migration of existing Perl scripts to Python
Use an internal validation tool to verify system requirements are correctly mapped in data
Analyze software requirements and support formal verification activities
Execute test cases in lab environments, including stress-test scenarios
Document and track anomalous system behaviour
Communicate test results clearly to engineers and supervisors
Support integration of scripts into automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines

Must-Haves

2-3 years of hands-on Python experience
Working knowledge of Perl scripting
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
Strong English communication skills — written and verbal
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with Agile, SCRUM, or DevOps methodologies

Nice to Have

CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) experience
Railway signaling background
Embedded or real-time systems testing experience
Familiarity with Git or version control systems
Experience in regulated industries (rail, aerospace, medical)

This is a hybrid role, 6-month contract with potential for extension or full-time conversion

Hourly Rate Range: $35-$37/hour
