Overview :
The Global Performance team is one of the four pillars within Fiera Capital’s Global Operations, alongside Portfolio Administration, Fund Administration and Data Management.
While predominantly focused on the Public Markets business segment in Canada, the U.S. and the UK, Global Operations administer a broad and often complex range of investment strategies, fund structures and asset classes in support of the Institutional, Financial Intermediary and Private Wealth distribution channels.
Private (Alternative Investment) Markets is also supported but mainly through the use of feeder funds (fund of funds). Global Operations teams work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment whereby attention to detail, operational risk, and client focus are must-have traits.
The Global Performance team plays a critical role in supporting the investment and client reporting process through the calculation and validation of Fiera’s investment performance results at the strategy, composite, mandate and client levels in adherence to the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®).
The team works closely with multiple key internal stakeholders, including our Public and Private Markets’ portfolio management teams and CIO offices, the various distribution and client facing teams, Investment Risk, Operations, Legal & Compliance, and Finance.
What we are looking for :
The Head of Global Performance Measurement is an exceptional and collaborative leader that is responsible for the investment performance operations and product development support of Fiera’s complex line-up of investment strategies and products.
The Director works closely with Fiera’s product development, investment and distribution teams to manage the product offerings ensuring that service delivery, operational readiness, GIPS® compliance, profitability, and scale is achieved in each product.
This person is a hands-on subject matter expert in their field with a proven track record of being able to develop and execute through their team as well as navigate effectively within a global firm.
As a trusted business partner, the role must be client and solution focused. As a global business, the Director must be able to navigate different investment platforms and regional regulations and rules.
Your Responsibilities :
- Manage a team of performance analysts responsible for calculating and reporting investment performance results across various asset classes
- Provide comprehensive service delivery for Fiera Capital’s public markets and private markets feeder funds’ investment performance reporting including attribution services
- Have ownership and maintenance of Fiera Capital’s Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) policies and procedures
- Manage annual GIPS® Firm verification and examination by external auditors
- Ongoing interpretation of the GIPS® standards by drawing on practical experience, industry guidance, and leveraging their network and external auditor expertise
- Act as conduit / middle office between the investment teams and other operations teams for all matters concerning performance measurement and analytics reporting
- Provide guidance for composite construction, investment discretion, risk disclosures and benchmark suitability
- Collaborate with the various CIO offices, distribution, legal, operations and other teams to understand emerging business and product needs and translates them into solutions
- Build a high performing team of leaders and executors capable of delivering on the needs of the business today and for the future
- Stay current on industry and regulatory trends and the evolving needs of our clients and partners
- Manage key vendor relationships and associated budgets as assigned with vendor governance best practices
- Represent the firm and / or department in various committees and working groups
- Participate when called upon to plan, lead and execute strategic initiatives such as acquisitions and divestitures
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the asset management industry and other department functions, collaborating with other departments to bring solutions to fruition
- Establish and maintains strong relationships with distribution, investment and operations teams to ensure client satisfaction and trust.
- Respond to client due diligence questionnaires and prospect RFPs; participates in presentations
Must have requirements to be successful in this role :
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Statistics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.
g., CFA, CAIA, FRM, CIPM) preferred
- 10 plus years of performance and investment analytics experience in an asset management setting, with at least 5 years of management experience
- Superior knowledge of all asset class and market performance and attribution methodologies and best practices
- Strong working knowledge of GIPS® and regulatory requirements in the investment industry
- Experience with acquisitions and investment team lift-outs and securing track records
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to all levels of stakeholders
- Deep knowledge of Eagle PACE, FactSet, APX, Archer, Bloomberg PORT+, Bi-SAM, and Morningstar are considered strong assets
- Ability to work collaboratively in a global, cross-functional environment
