Environmental Field Technician
About the role
- Work closely and effectively under the supervision of Project Managers and senior field technicians on an ongoing basis in activities such as : coordinating and managing groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, test pitting, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, data tabulation, environmental data interpretation, and coordination of field subcontractors, reporting and documentation.
- Responsible for adhering to health and safety plans and quality processes on all field work, projects and reports.
- May assist with the preparation of work plans, budgets and schedules while ensuring deliverables are met in a timely manner.
- Assist with project management tasks such as invoicing, budget tracking, file organization, and tracking of schedule and deliverables.
- Operation & maintenance of field equipment (sampling pumps, flow meters, etc.)
- Preparing reports, drawings and identifying recommendations based on sampling and field inspection data.
About you
You will be an engineer, geoscientist, or environmental technologist with experience in one or more fields of contaminated sites investigation, remediation and reclamation, or environmental liability assessment.
Other qualifications include :
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in environmental technology, environmental sciences, environmental studies, engineering or related discipline.
- 3-5 years relevant experience conducting environmental site investigations within Alberta, such as Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and remediation.
- Knowledge of relevant Alberta Environmental legislation.
- Experience in soil and groundwater sampling techniques.
- Experience in subcontractor management, including coordination and safety oversight.
- Good initiative, strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability and willingness to conduct field work, which can sometimes be conducted in adverse conditions.
- Able and willing to occasionally work during non-regular business hours, including weekends.
