SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Mammoet is looking for an energetic individual to join our Edmonton branch as a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice welder. This position requires a candidate to repair, modify and / or fabricate equipment according to all Mammoet SHE-Q, business and quality standards, policies, and procedures.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Conduct all business in a professional, respectful manner
- Ensures that all assigned work is carried out in accordance with Mammoet, SHE-Q and Business Policies and Procedures.
- Report all near misses and incidents to the supervisor.
- Ensure that you are qualified to use the equipment to work with.
- Ensure that you attend and participate in every day’s toolbox meetings prior to starting the work.
- Ensure that field-level risk assessments are completed, signed, and handed in.
- Ensure that work is completed according to given directions.
- Understand the task.
- Plan the work.
- Address any concerns with the supervisor.
- Repair and / or modify lifting or transport equipment in a safe way and according to given drawings and procedures. Any concerns must be addressed with the supervisor.
- Fabricate equipment for lifting and / or transport safely and according to given drawings and procedures. Any concerns must be addressed with the supervisor.
- Inform the supervisor when new fabricated, repaired, or modified lifting or transport equipment is ready for inspection.
- Ensure that steel is stamped with the heat number before it gets used to assemble a lifting or transport device.
- Maintain good customer relations with clients and vendors.
- Fill in time sheets correctly and get them reviewed, checked, and approved by the supervisor before handing them in.
- Ensure that all paperwork is included and completed for further processing when a job is completed. Such as :
- Signed of a maintenance order.
- Shop drawings with, where applicable, the as built comments.
- List of materials used other than specified in the drawing.
- Equipment parts-heat number list.
- Inspect equipment within the department on a regular base. Lock-out and report mall-functioning or damaged equipment.
- Maintain and repair equipment within the department according to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Where certification of equipment is required, ensure that only certified equipment is used
- Ensure daily reporting to fabrication supervisor.
- Other responsibilities as passed on by the fabrication supervisor.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Experience
Minimum of three (3) months of labour experience.
Education
- Completed necessary internal T&DP courses.
- CSTS.
- Site specific orientation.
- Aerial work platform, fall arrest, confined space, over head crane, skid steer, loader, zoom boom.

Proficient in English, written and spoken
