What you will do :
The incumbent will be responsible for teaching courses within the Kinesiology Bachelor of Applied Science Degree Program, the Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma Program, and the Exercise Science and Lifestyle Management Graduate Certificate Program.
The incumbent will teach, develop course materials and assessments related to learning outcomes, create an effective and innovative learning environment for students and will contribute actively to overall program and curriculum development.
The incumbent will work collaboratively with colleagues, and will participate in committees, working groups and events to advance Faculty and program priorities.
The incumbent will help build and establish applied research projects within the Fitness and Health programs. Teaching will be assigned at the North campus, though teaching or other activities may also be assigned at the Lakeshore campus.
The incumbent will also support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs and develop and maintain strong industry ties.
Qualifications
What you bring to the role :
Education :
- Graduate degree in Kinesiology (biomechanical focus an asset) or related
- Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario is an asset. Relevant industry certifications are also assets (i.
e. CPT, CEP, CSCS etc.)
Experience and Skills :
Industry acumen and experience is required, along with demonstrated ability to teach several courses within the program cluster.
Specialized skills or academic training in some of the following areas will be required : Biomechanics, Exercise Prescription, Fitness Assessment, Coaching.
A minimum of 8 years of work experience in the fitness and health industry and a minimum of 5 years of teaching at the post-secondary level is required.
Work experience as a part of an interprofessional team is an asset.
In addition, the successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change.
The successful candidate will bring a keen interest in building applied research opportunities within the Fitness and Health field.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture.
The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
