Thompson Builders Inc. is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Project Manager.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Project Manager is an experienced team-builder with a broad spectrum of talent, who builds and maintains key relationships with key stakeholders including the client, the project team, field supervision, and external stakeholders.
You are fully proficient with the technical, leadership, and communication skills required to lead projects from estimate to close-out.
This will be for future projects supporting our Buildings Division throughout Alberta.
Job Responsibilities :
- Budget Management : Collaborate with the Preconstruction team to prepare, revise, and monitor cost-related reports for project budget development.
- Subcontracting Process : Oversee the entire subcontracting process, including initial scope review meetings, finalizing processes, developing subcontract scopes of work, and managing subcontract distribution and execution.
- Client Deliverables : Direct the determination of the quantity and quality of budget estimates and deliverables to the client.
- Hiring and Staffing : Recruit key personnel and subcontractors for the project.
- Project Administration : Manage daily project operations and administration, escalating issues as necessary.
- Schedule Management : Oversee the project schedule and milestone dates, ensuring close-out checklists are prepared and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supplier Coordination : Maintain effective communication with suppliers and key project personnel to ensure timely delivery of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and personnel.
- Change Management : Monitor and manage the change management process, including identifying change events, submitting change notices, pricing and tracking changes, and negotiating change orders with clients.
- Team Leadership : Establish project teams, define roles and responsibilities, and facilitate team meetings.
- Project Planning and Execution : Apply construction expertise to ensure proper project planning, scheduling, staffing, cost control, and overall project management.
- Contract Review : Analyze contract documents to understand deliverables and ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.
- Objective Communication : Manage and communicate objectives for critical milestones, budget, schedule, and client satisfaction to project team members.
Qualifications :
- Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in construction management, CET, engineering, business, or a related field is required.
- Experience : 6-15 years of direct construction project management experience. The required years of experience may vary based on the project’s size, scope, and complexity.
- Technical Proficiency : Strong technical skills in project KPIs and the three core areas of Estimating, Field Management, and Project Management.
- Decision Making : Ability to make informed recommendations and take action based on technical expertise.
- Software Skills : Proficiency with the MS Office Suite and project management software. Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud software is an asset.
- Desire for Growth : Eagerness to learn and grow, with a willingness to acquire new software skills as needed.
