OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director, Research Operations and Business Development, the Lead, Research and Innovation is responsible for administratively leading the Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) Research Ethics Board (REB), and leading the organization, planning and implementation of special projects within MGH’s department of Research and Innovation.
Preliminary projects include overseeing the research program revitalization portfolio which will involve leading the request for proposals (RFP) process for an electronic research administration software to support the MGH REB and grant management processes.
To be successful, the incumbent will require a strong comprehension of research regulations, guidelines and policies governing human research participant protections, as well as an ability to collaborate across teams, effectively communicate with individuals in a variety of roles, and to understand and deliver on research department goals.
This is a contract position until March 31, 2026.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field, required.
- Master’s degree and / or CCRP / ACRP certification and / or PMP certification is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience relevant to research administration, study implementation, funding, financial reporting and / or data management.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience relevant to REB administration, coordination or experience with the preparation and review of REB packages.
- Demonstrated experience in project management in a hospital setting, or a healthcare related project.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and guidelines governing clinical research and research ethics including TCPS, ICH GCP, Health Canada, OHRP, FDA, PHIPA.
- Ability to understand and interpret complex clinical study protocols.
- Excellent time management skills - can effectively manage multiple projects and address competing demands based on priority.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong planning, organization and facilitation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to build positive working relationships with diverse collaborators and to influence decision making and adoption of change initiatives.
- Exercises judgment and decision making, using established policies and procedures to resolve technical problems.
- Demonstrated understanding of policies, procedures, and issues dealing with research integrity and the conduct of research.
- Excellent capabilities with MS Office suite are required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills and professionalism.
