Kinectrics has a growing portfolio of services supporting the development and deployment of new nuclear power plants in Canada and around the world.
This includes Small Modular Reactors and Advanced Reactors of all technology types, as well as emerging nuclear technologies such as fusion facilities, nuclear fuel cycle facilities, and integrated modules to aid in the deployment of such technologies.
Additionally, the market continues to grow for highly integrated clean energy technologies which use a nuclear reactor as a heat source such as high temperature hydrogen production cycles, process heating loads, desalination, synthetic fuels and materials production, district heating, etc.
A section under the Licensing & Advanced Reactor directorate has been established to lead this exciting area of growth for Kinectrics.
This section is a hub for all SMR, Advanced Reactor, and New Build services within Kinectrics and works in a highly collaborative manner with all service lines of the company.
The focus of the section is on the development, deployment, licensing, and safety case development for new nuclear technology which includes Small Modular Reactors, Advanced Reactors and Fusion technologies.
Accountabilities : How You Will Make an Impact
Provide nuclear safety and licensing support to clients in the nuclear sector in the areas of Deterministic Safety Analysis, Probabilistic Safety Analysis, Operational Nuclear Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Nuclear Security, Regulatory Affairs and other related disciplines.
- Assist in conducting projects in conjunction with senior engineers or supervisor
- Assist in analysis of technical results and report writing
- Assist in development of proposals and negotiation of contracts with clients
- Lead the work of Kinectrics technical staff on a common project, including the delegation of tasks as required.
- Prepare technical reports suitable for submission to clients and to nuclear regulators (for example, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission).
- Other duties as required.
What You Need to Succeed
Requires advanced knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices associated with science and engineering disciplines normally acquired in a 4-year university education.
Additional project management and / or business / financial courses are considered to be an asset.
- Nuclear safety & licensing experience 5 years at minimum.
- New build and / or SMR or Advanced Reactor service experience 1 year is an asset.
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Effective project management skills are an asset
- Basic understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation
- Fundamental or more advanced knowledge of water cooled and non-water cooled reactor designs including advanced reactor types is an asset.
- Familiarity with Canadian regulatory requirements and the CSA N286 QA standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in other countries is an asset.
- Must be motivated by working with engineering professionals committed to producing timely and
high-quality technical work.
Flexible in terms of willingness to accept evolving assignments as current projects end and new
projects begin.
- Ideally you will be a Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status, with a passion for engineering.
- You are innovative, enthusiastic and ready to be part of our dynamic team.
