Job Description

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), and the Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health (GH-CCMH) are jointly seeking an part-time, contract (12 months) Engagement Facilitator assigned to the CAMH-SickKids-Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health Child & Youth Mental Health Collaborative.

The goal of the Collaborative is to work towards service coordination such that patients, families, and caregivers seamlessly experience the child and youth mental health system across all of the involved organizations.

This will be achieved through a number of projects or work streams focused on coordinated access, clinical pathways, information accessibility, stakeholder engagement, data, and evaluation.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada's largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world's leading research centres in its field.

The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health centre integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) that offers a range of in-person and virtual mental health services for children, youth and their families, from prevention and early intervention through assessment, counselling and therapy and intensive services.

The Engagement Facilitator will be hired into SickKids reporting directly to the Executive Director with a dotted line to the Senior Project Manager.

The Engagement Facilitator will be responsible for supporting a number of projects / work streams within the Child & Youth Mental Health Collaborative.

The incumbent will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

Currently we are working in a hybrid environment. On-site work would split between the CAMH and SickKids sites in Toronto.

This division of on-site and remote time may change in the future at the discretion of project or organizational leadership.

Here’s What You’ll Get to Do :

  • Co-chairs the PFAC Advisory for the Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative Program
  • Provide ongoing support and act as a liaison between the working groups and the Project Team
  • Provide the Project Team with guidance and best practices on engaging with communities, particularly equity-deserving communities.
  • Collaborate with working group members and local operational teams to assess needs
  • Prepare and presents reports, summaries, and analyses to stakeholders and senior leadership, documenting project outcomes and impact
  • Support the development of a Key Partners engagement and change management strategy through consultations with the Key Partners working group, community and other hospital partners
  • Identify relevant communities that are impacted by the challenges impacting the access of child and youth mental health services
  • Communicate regularly with community partners to provide updates on project progress, successes, and challenges
  • Identify opportunities for engagement with local tables, working groups and forums to promote the work of the Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative

Represent the Collaborative on various external committees, working groups, etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3 5-year experience working in a patient-facing and / or family-facing role
  • Strong written and verbal Communication skills including demonstrated experience in the areas of presentation, group facilitation and working with patients and families
  • Strong understanding of the principles of self-care, self-determination and issues facing patients and their families in the context of mental illness of addiction.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively and strategically with patients, staff, internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic and fast-paced interprofessional environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with MS office
  • Demonstrates commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Assets :

  • Lived experience as a recipient of mental health and / or addictions services or as a family member of a child / youth who has been the recipient of mental health and / or addictions services
  • Experience working within a hospital environment is considered
