Position Summary :

The Academic Operations& Student Success Coordinator reports to the Manager,Academic Operations (MAO) of the Chef School andprovides senior level coordination, administration, and logistical support inensuring the efficient scheduling, staffing and operations of the George BrownChef School.

Key Responsibilities :

Coordinates and prepares non-full-time (part-time) faculty and non-teaching contracts to meet scheduling and program delivery needs.

Submits to Human Resources (>

100 / semester) to meet deadlines in Payroll and union collective agreement provisions / requirements.

  • Coordinates and attaches Course registration numbers to faculty ensuring all aspects are aligned for smooth delivery of programs.
  • Prepares and distributes SWFs, coordinates meetings between Associate Dean and faculty, reviews for accuracy, consults with HR and submits to meet deadlines in Payroll and union collective agreement provisions and requirements.
  • Investigates and advises students in complex cases regarding their academic standing and program status and directs them to appropriate resources and solutions available.
  • Researches and responds to student and faculty enquiries for course or program information and provides guidance and appropriate direction.
  • Advises students and faculty on programs and alternative means available through program pathways.
  • Supports the coordinator in tracking, monitoring, and reporting on school expenditures and invoices and processes invoices for payment.
  • Supports the MAO in the planning and execution of internal and external advisory committee meetings and special events, communicating with external stakeholders and making appropriate arrangements for space, travel, and any other event details.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements :

  • Three-year Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Hospitality Management, Management, Business or an equivalent combination of relevant education and practical experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ administrative experience in a post-secondary education institution, preferably in the area of Hospitality and Tourism.
  • Requires excellent understanding and experience regarding academic functions, student systems, GBC policies and procedures, sound financial administrative experience with the ability to analyze financial information and generate reports, expert knowledge of relational databases and office computer systems and applications including Excel.
  • Excellent customer service experience.
  • Experience facilitating conflict resolution.

The College requires proof of degrees, credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and / or their international equivalents.

Credentials may require validation at the time of interviews or offer.
