Position Description

Based in the Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Program, the donor funded Cundill Centre is a vibrant clinical research centre dedicated to understanding and addressing child and youth depression.

The Cundill Centre is developing best practices for the screening, prevention and treatment of child and youth depression, revolutionizing research, care and knowledge exchange in the field by addressing key evidence gaps.

To achieve this goal, the Centre involves a large network of national and international scientists, clinicians and experts working in collaboration with youth, families and key stakeholders.

The Cundill Centre is seeking a full-time, contract (1 year) Research Coordinator. Reporting to the Research Manager and working closely with the Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator will be responsible for the following activities : the implementation and supervision of youth engagement teams at community agencies, the implementation and management of a multi-site randomized controlled trial and its sub-studies, liaising with team members (i.

e. clinicians, research staff, youth, and family members), the collection and maintenance of databases, and overseeing regulatory requirements and Research Ethics Board protocol compliance.

Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to) : recruitment and follow-up of study participants, development of standard operating procedures, managing research documentation, and ensuring research milestone compliance.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as part of an extensive multi-site project team. The candidate will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

This role will require travel and some evening hours. This position is located at 80 Workman Way.

Qualifications :

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in health sciences combined with two (2) years of experience in mental health services research.

The candidate must have the following : experience with confidential data and large datasets; superior skills in overseeing protocol compliance in a complex health services trial;

and a proven ability to support implementation and adherence to study protocols. The candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable youth / caregivers and demonstrate a strong understanding of the issues facing youth seeking mental health and / or addictions services.

The candidate must have experience with project budgeting and finance reporting, writing and submitting stakeholder reports, creating work plans and supporting sub-grant agreement processes, and maintaining relationships with external partners.

The candidate must have extensive experience training research personnel with varying levels of experience on research protocols, procedures, and have interviewing skills, including diagnostic interviewing.

The candidate will also have demonstrated communication (oral / written) skills, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines, work independently, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and REDCap software is required. Bilingualism (French / English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
