Job description

Senior Project Coordinator – Travelling Ontario

Peak Construction Group is seeking an experienced Senior Project Coordinator to support the delivery of construction projects across Ontario.

Working alongside the Project Manager and Superintendent, the Senior Project Coordinator plays a key role in the day-to-day coordination and administration of the project. This position carries a higher level of ownership and independence, with responsibility for project documentation, changes, cost tracking, schedule coordination, trade and consultant communication, and project closeout.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly with the project team, identifying issues early and following them through to resolution.

This is a travelling position supporting projects throughout Ontario on a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, drawing revisions, site instructions and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to resolve outstanding information and keep work progressing.
  • Manage the change process, including identifying potential changes, preparing and tracking change notices and maintaining supporting documentation.
  • Assist with pricing, review and administration of change orders.
  • Support project cost control, budget updates and forecasting.
  • Review subcontractor progress claims and invoices against contracts, completed work and approved changes.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of project schedules and monitor key milestones and deliverables.
  • Review drawings, specifications and contract documents to identify discrepancies, scope gaps and coordination issues.
  • Maintain current drawings, specifications, logs, meeting records and project correspondence.
  • Track project deliverables and follow up with internal and external stakeholders to ensure required information is received.
  • Support quality control activities, deficiency tracking and resolution.
  • Coordinate project closeout documentation, including as-built drawings, warranties, operation and maintenance manuals and turnover requirements.
  • Support project-specific health and safety requirements and Peak's established safety standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to Project Coordinators and other junior project team members as required.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in construction, with demonstrated experience in a Project Coordinator or similar role.
  • Diploma, degree or certificate in Construction Management, Building Technology, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and relevant construction experience will also be considered.
  • Experience supporting commercial, retail, institutional or other ICI construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, drawings, specifications and contract documents.
  • Demonstrated experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, cost tracking, progress claims and document control.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience working directly with subcontractors, consultants, Project Managers and Superintendents.

Skills & Experience

  • Able to manage project responsibilities independently and follow issues through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of how changes in scope, schedule and site conditions can impact project cost and delivery.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and document control.
  • Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident communicating with trades, consultants and members of the project team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Experience with construction project management, scheduling and document management software is considered an asset.
  • Willing and able to travel throughout Ontario on a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation.

Compensation & Benefits

Peak offers a competitive salary along with comprehensive benefit coverage, RRSP matching, training and development opportunities, company events and socials, and opportunities for continued career growth.

This position provides the opportunity to take on significant responsibility within the project team and continue developing toward future project management opportunities.
