Job Title: Wiring Assembler
Job Description
The Wiring Assembler plays a key role in building industrial control panels used in data centres and oil and gas applications. In this role, you assemble custom-built panels, install and wire electrical components using schematics and blueprints, and perform testing to ensure safe and reliable operation. You work with a variety of hand and power tools, measuring devices, and lifting equipment in a modern manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble industrial control panels for data centres and oil and gas units according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Lay out panels and plan the placement of components to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe assembly.
- Mount devices such as switchgear, breakers, and other electrical components onto panels and enclosures.
- Perform electrical wiring of panels, including routing, terminating, and securing electrical circuits in accordance with schematics.
- Crimp, label, and organize wiring to meet quality standards and ensure ease of troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams to complete custom builds.
- Measure and mark components and mounting locations using a tape measure (standard and metric) and other layout tools.
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently and safely for cutting, drilling, fastening, and assembling components.
- Operate lifting devices and related equipment, as required, to move panels, components, and materials safely within the shop.
- Assist with testing and verification of assembled panels to confirm proper operation and adherence to specifications.
- Complete computer-based documentation using Microsoft Office and production systems to record work performed and maintain accurate build records.
- Collaborate with team members on the shop floor to meet production targets and maintain high quality standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in wiring assembly or electrical assembly, ideally with custom-built panels.
- At least 1 year of experience working on the floor in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with switchgear and breaker assembly for at least 1 year.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to lay out panels and mount electrical devices accurately and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of electrical wiring and electrical circuits in an industrial context.
- Ability to read a tape measure in both standard and metric units accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to use hand tools and power tools very efficiently and safely.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and basic computer systems for production documentation.
- Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly work in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing or construction environments related to oil and gas, industrial controls, or electrical equipment is an asset.
- Exposure to switchgear, breakers, and industrial electrical equipment from major manufacturers is beneficial.
- Forklift, overhead crane, and picker truck experience are considered strong assets.
- Experience in production, fabrication, and assembly environments is an advantage.
- Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical components in a shop setting.
- Willingness to work different shifts, including days and afternoons, and to complete 4 to 8 weeks of training on day shift.

Work Environment
You work in a main shop located in a new building, focused on assembling industrial control panels in a clean, organized manufacturing environment. The standard shift runs from 6:30 . to 3:00 ., Monday to Friday, with a half-hour unpaid lunch and overtime available after 40 hours per week. You need to be open to an afternoon shift from Monday to Thursday, 2:30 . to 1:00 ., which includes a shift premium, and you receive 4 to 8 weeks of training on the day shift before transitioning. The role involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and lifting equipment, as well as computer-based documentation using Microsoft Office and production systems. You follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment, including CSA-approved safety boots (green triangle), safety glasses, and gloves, while working on the shop floor.
