Job DescriptionSLR is looking for an Intermediate EHS Specialist to join our ESG Advisory Service Line. You will work closely with our existing team in technical and tactical EHS management and assurance matters.

Our staff work with clients in all sectors to implement tools and processes to identify, prioritize, control and monitor ESG related risk, to develop strategy, to facilitate communications, to build management systems, and to conduct audits.

Key Responsibilities Your specific responsibilities will include :

  • Provide support to our existing team on projects relating to management systems, compliance and other local and international requirements applicable to EHS / ESG obligations.
  • Rely upon your strong technical writing skills to lead the preparation of EHS and sustainability management, reporting, and due diligence documentation for our clients.
  • Develop technical operating procedures used to define the required standard of care to be applied for a variety of topics, such as non-compliance reporting and spill preparedness & response.
  • Potentially support with ESG and sustainability projects, including, but not limited to, materiality assessments, gap analyses, benchmarking, strategy development, and carbon footprinting.
  • Develop, implement, and / or evaluate environmental, health & safety, and / or social management systems.
  • Conduct audits and assessments of environmental, health & safety and / or social management systems and management plans.
  • Responsible for project planning, coordination, and reporting.
  • Liaising and coordinating with current and prospective clients, including communicating project status and deliverables in meetings and through presentations.
  • Responsiveness and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree specializing in a related technical discipline (sustainability, environmental science or engineering, occupational health & safety, ecology, environmental law / policy)
  • 4 to 7 years experience required in one or more relevant fields
  • Certified Environmental Professional (EP), or qualified to obtain the EP designation under ECO Canada is a bonus; other applicable certifications (, CRSP, Engineer-in-Training) and professional designations (P.

Eng, P. Geo) will be considered a plus as well

  • Experience working at a consulting firm
  • Strong technical writing skills, with an ability to synthesize technical information and develop plain language summaries
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Can find creative and innovative solutions to problems
  • Flexible and adaptable, with ability to support multiple different projects at any given time and seamlessly transition between priorities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with ability to formulate and monitor project timelines that align with client expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team environment
  • General knowledge of EHS and ESG criteria
  • Previous experience with sustainability standards (, GRI, SASB, TSM, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience working with ISO 14001, 9001, 45001, management systems and / or IFC Performance Standards is a bonus
  • Ability to travel periodically, as required; a valid driver’s license for travel to job / client sites is mandatory
