Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering team, of the Building & Industry, based in Fredericton, Saint John, or Moncton, NB office and have the opportunity to work on portfolio of municipal, industrial, and commercial projects in the Atlantic region and across Canada!
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Prepare drawings, specifications and reports necessary to deliver a project
- Develop layouts and design of mechanical building systems such as, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, fire protection systems, plumbing and drainage systems and specialized plumbing systems (natural gas, fuel oil,
- Create project specific details to clarify project scope and create building sections to assist with interference coordination between building systems.
- Prepare calculations to size ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, plumbing and drainage. Incorporate calculations into technical drawings
- Prepare calculations to size equipment and prepare equipment schedules that are project specific. Coordinate with necessary project team members to review equipment.
Ensure that a complete and correct design is achieved
- Respond to both internal and external communication regarding project or design status; report to the Buildings and Industrial Engineering manager and / or project manager regarding the design status
- Working on plans with industrial plants and facilities
- Conduct facility condition assessments; Feasibility studies, design briefs, options evaluations
- Other duties as assigned / required
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years of relevant buildings and industrial experience
- Background in preparation of construction documents, including specifications and cost estimates
- Professional Engineer ( licensed withAssociation of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB), or eligible for immediate registration
- A solid understanding of mechanical systems design, construction, project and budget management, and proposal preparation
- Knowledge of the national building code, ASHRAE, CSA and NFPA standards
- REVIT / BIM proficiency is considered a strong asset
- Able to work in a deadline-driven environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, products
- Experience with Energy modelling and energy auditing for energy efficiency, Renewable energy, power generation, LEED, Green Globes are considered an asset
