We are seeking a highly skilled, talented and detail-oriented Project Specialist to join an innovative environment where creativity knows no bound.

As a key member of the dynamic reinsurance finance team, you will play a crucial role in building process for complex reinsurance accounting activities, contributing to improve closing activities, and driving multiple process enhancements.

Your expertise will be pivotal in simplifying and standardizing controls to elevate our reporting and accounting processes.

In this role you will be working on large scale projects that have impacts on the reinsurance finance department and managing a portfolio of complex projects.

We are aiming to find and develop a candidate that will become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Reinsurance Finance team and will be involved in various streams of the projects where the finance department expertise is required.

In your new role, you will act as a key stakeholder to make sure that the team is well represented in these initiatives and that the need of the reinsurance finance team is well covered by preparing requirements, proposing and reviewing proposed solutions.

This is a fulltime permanent position that can be based in any city across Canada.

What you’ll do here :

As a member of the accounting and reporting team :

Perform the analysis of complex reinsurance instruction, provide key recommendation in the preparation of complex reinsurance journal entries and ensure the accuracy of the financial results under your responsibility.

Perform key reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of the reinsurance balance and perform reinsurance settlement with key reinsurers.

Provide insight and recommendations to your leader about reinsurance result.

Ensure to implement, perform and improve all key controls to ensure high quality of improvement provided to our leader.

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment in the month-end closing process.

As a member of the project team :

Make the life of our reinsurance finance team easier by participating in financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives as a key lead by understanding the multiple challenges and business needs, proposing solution, implementing and testing these solutions and ensuring operational readiness for our key stakeholders.

Provide warranty support after deployment.

Identify area of improvement on various topics, documents and monitor progression on the proposal.

Ensure efficient and optimal use of our different reinsurance & reporting systems as the primary source of data for the production and analysis of reinsurance results.

Manage your project portfolio and provide regular, timely and pertinent update to your manager to ensure group alignment on decision and action.

Perform ad hoc and / or recurring reinsurance request to support the reinsurance accounting team.

What you bring to the table :

Post secondary education in Finance or Accounting is required

5+ years experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards or finance related positions

Experience in Insurance / Reinsurance accounting is required

Involved in Finance and Accounting project work

Professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset

Demonstrated experience in fast learning environment requiring agility and adaptability to change

Discipline, autonomy and professionalism

Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders

For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
