It provides a wide range of services, including specialized treatments, emergency care, cancer care, mental health services, rehabilitation, and long-term care. The centre also focuses on research and innovation, staff well-being, and community engagement Position Details :

Position : Full-Time Security Guard Site : Health Science Centre Overtime : Overtime after 48 hours Hours : Continental Rotation Payrate : $19.67 / hour Posting Date : November 5, 2025 Internal Closing Date : January 31, 2026 External Closing Date : January 31, 2026

Schedule Example :

Week 1 - Days - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
Week 2 - Days - Sun, Wed-Thu
Week 3 - Nights - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
Week 4 - Nights - Sun, Wed-Thu

Key responsibilities :

Patrol Hospital Grounds : Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.

Monitor Surveillance Systems : Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

Respond to Emergencies : Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.

Provide Customer Service : Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

Conflict Resolution : De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.

Report Writing : Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.

Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Enforce Hospital Policies : Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites :

Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)

Tuberculosis (TB) Screening : All healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.

Vaccination Documentation : Proof of completion of the full series of childhood / primary vaccinations is required.

Tdap Vaccine : One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.

Booster Requirement : A booster dose of tetanus toxoid-reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) is required every 10 years

Valid class 5 Driver License

English (oral and written) fluency is a must

Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.

Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)

Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF / MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
