The Brief
GSM Project is experiencing significant growth and is seeking to establish a more advanced business development structure.
Reporting to the Executive Producer and Head of Business Development, the Business Development Manager will represent GSM Project, and take charge of overseeing the daily execution of sales-related activities in the assigned region.
This role requires a highly collaborative and detail-oriented approach, with the Business Development Manager playing a key role in securing new projects for the company.
Responsibilities
Define North American Sales Strategy
- Conduct market research and develop a nuanced understanding of the market of museums and cultural attractions in the region
- Based on this research identify areas and clients of interest for GSM
- Formulate a strategy for developing relationships and business with identified clients of interest
- Develop and maintain a network of sources for leads and RFPs across North America
- Identify opportunities to grow the client base within Canada and USA markets
- Identification, implementation, and management of sales and development resources / tools and materials
Implement Strategy
- Formulate a sales strategy to develop business within Canada and USA markets
- Represent GSM Project in the market by attending exhibitions, trade shows, conferences and other general networking activities in order to raise the market profile of the firm in Canada & USA
- Build and maintain development pipeline information for regional and global reporting
- Collaborate and coordinate with the GSM Project Development teams across offices to maximize development reach and potential globally
- Develop and maintain long-term business relationships with clients and partners
Proposals
- Ownership, strategy definition, and direction of all GSM Proposals in the NA region in coordination with the global development team as necessary
- Writing of proposals as necessary
- Analysis and reporting on proposals
- Coordination with all internal GSM teams globally as required for proposal efforts
- Establishing a client relationship where possible, and supporting the transition from the award of RFP to the project work of GSM project team
- Act as a secondary line of communication between clients and the project teams as needed

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of experience with museums and cultural attractions, a must
- Self starter or experience in a similar role
- Experience with proposal writing and project strategy in a design-consulting context
- Established quantitative capabilities and high-level of comfort with numbers
- Flexibility and open-mindedness in approach, with fundamental team and solution-based mind-set
- Fluency in English (must) and French (plus), written and spoken
- Computer programs : Google suite, familiarity with CRM platforms.
